I don't know what to say. Could they be saying that they are considering lifting the ban like tahoe? It seems like an odd move to put a picture like that on there website.

No, as I'm sure you know...MRG is run by the co-op, and the shareholders would have to approve it. I believe that past votes on the matter have come in over 75% against lifting it. They just don't take a hostile approach to it. (And seem to find it a bit entertaining) You can hike if you want, but you aren't getting on the lift it you're on a board.

Now they have a website just for riders. Lots os negative skiers voicing there opinion on the comments section. People are saying they won't go back because of snowboarders.

Honestly. People are getting out of hand. Its not like we are a group of animals that destroy mountains and run people over. They need to chill and accept change.

You make a good point about the fact that the steeps would be ridden mostly by expert boarders, thus less snow scraping. On the other hand, it only takes a few boarders trying to test their their mettle to take down a ton of snow in some of steep and narrow shutes.
Oh well, if it helps the area survive, let it be.

I've behind skiers that have cleared chutes too..

Me too-i've been one of them!

The amount of steep acerage at taos will probably handle any potential problems with scraping.

The point is that MRG has never had a problem with riders hiking up and riding down. It's not that big a deal. But not on the lifts, so it's self-limiting.

But you're not going to see snowboards allowed on the liftst at MRG any time soon. I mean, they had a snowboard turning station set up near the base. It was a table saw. :)
