Well, which has a longer lead time, installing new electrical service and buying a pump skid, or a couple dozen snowguns?

That's my guess, anyway.

Would a fire pump provide enough head? I know nothing about this place and how far up the mountain they were making snow

Apparently it does, to Eclipse at least. They had inline boosters for the upper mountain loop when they ran diesels.

I was there Sunday. No lines at all (the lift wasn't even full). Untracked powder all over the mountain. The terrain there is unique in that it feels organic, as if some rails/roads were cut out and left as is. If you wanted rolling groomers you could have it. If you wanted powder in the woods it was there all for yourself. If you wanted steeps with moguls there was a MASSIVE hill with all you could handle. The lodge is simple but very well done. The cafeteria stuck to the basics and did a good job with what I had (salad with chicken $14.95) I didn't look at the kitchen menu.
Most of the skiers there were intermediate which I found strange at first. Yes it makes sense that a smaller, local mountain would be a great place to learn but where was everyone else? Sometimes I wonder if people really like skiing or are just there for everything else.

I want to ski Tenney tomorrow. I want their latest snow/trail report. Seems like their Facebook Page is where they like to publish reports. Last one was two days ago. I called. Person that answered laughed about the person that posts reports sitting right there. Laughter. Silence. Waiting. "There's good snow at the top. We're supposed to get a storm Saturday." Waiting. Silence. I ask, "Midweek tickets are $69?" Reply: "Well it's the weekend - Friday, Saturday, Sunday." I thank the person and we end the call.

What do you make of this? Did any of you ski Tenney yesterday who could update me? Thanks. Do they really charge weekend pricing on Fridays?

How bizarre. There's no snow forecasted anywhere near Tenney on Saturday. Tuesday might see some. I would ask on one of their FB posts about when they charge weekend prices. They tend to respond more quickly there and that makes their response public. The website says nothing about friday being weekend prices.

plenty of people love to take a run or 2 and hang around the lodge and eat / drink / be seen.

I dont understand it but it's less people in the lift lines so it's all good to me
Yeah hanging out is big in Europe where half the people on the mountain are there to sunbathe, eat and drink.

Is anyone buying a season pass? It's $450 and you get to ski the rest of the year free. Very tempting but I'm not sure if I can get there enough to make it worth it. I kind of wish there was a "founders pass" or something like it that would lock the $450 rate in for seasons to come.

Seems a bit high. No mention on the website of a midweek pass, senior/student, etc, etc. Honestly, if they do the no Boundaries pass again, that's a better deal. If they were to join Indy, would be more tempting with the Add-on pricing.

A group I know did the 9:30 - 11:00 shift and then hit the bars when they opened at 11:00. Maybe a run or two after lunch and then off the mountain. Total ski time maybe two hours. I bailed on that quickly. Didn't drive long distance to sit in a bar no matter how awesome the view is. But yeah, it seems to be a thing.

I have a friend although he no longer drinks who used to do this. He still only takes a few runs mid morning and calls it a day most days but I have seen him take a few after lunch.

I think it’s too high seeing as Ragged (with 2 high speed quads and snowmaking) is only 30 minutes away and is 399 for the next couple of weeks and includes 4 days at Jay. Now if Tenney had thrown in tubing ( specifically says it doesn’t incldue) or did a family deal maybe worth it. I think they have to price lower to get people back. We have a house in Plymouth and would love to love Tenney, but for a family of 4 with no kids rates for a small area I don’t think we’d risk it.

Wait, Ragged is cheaper than Tenney for season passes? Seems like a no-brainer.
