The NOAA forecast models where 100% correct in showing this massive warmup two weeks ago and they forecast more warmth for the period after December 10th.

I think that we will have spurts of cold air this winter that may spark some intense Noreasters, but overall with El Nino and a strong pacific flow to the jetstream I would expect a mild winter.

At least the warm weather made closing on my house and moving up to Connecticut a easier experience.

To top it all off my wife just got stung by a bee on Dec 1st..

Yeah, but you live down in the tropics of LI, Dave... ;)

Seriously, folks. This weekend sucks, but after tomorrow, we'll soon forget about all this with the cold coming next week. Happy December, everybody!

Well temps may have cooled slightly. However, that storm did not produce any accumulating snow here in my area of northern Vermont (i haven't checked them mountains yet). It stayed up in the forties when I went to bed at 2:00 last night. There are barely enough flakes blowing around this morning to call them flurries.
It still looks like mid october out there. :-( At least it is cold enough to make snow.

...I hear ya' Zee....

Got my 4 days in already, gotta ski when you can :)
My lighter NE powder sticks due in Monday morning...the kind that don't need no accumulated base to float on....anywhere!;-) Go grab the short-lasting freshies...cause there may not be a 2nd day of pow or crud left.... Hopefully not true, but you never know...

It is bad when even a relatively cold weather system ends up being rain in northern VT :x At least this time there is SOME snow involved on the tail end.
I won't be here this weekend to enjoy it anyways.

:smash: That's right I'm bringing it back :smash:
The weather outlook through Christmas is very dismal to say the least. Has there been a year where we have set two low snow fall total records in back to back months? With record high temps where resorts can barely make snow IN DECEMBER!
Here's to a 1 month long ski season on man made boilerplate.

Not even getting boilerplate- that requires a base to freeze and for many area's there isn't going to be a base.

Forever an optimist. I try to practice the same outlook.
