This thread has taken off.....

And TC: Bronco: cool trail. I like Sidewinder the best with the little waterfall/cliff in the middle of it. Outpost is so old school and cool. Great memories from 2001. Will have to find the pics and scan them in here sometime!

Sunset is a nice trail as is Upper KA. Summit Glades--nice stashes here and there. Pretty confusing the first few times. Birch Glades is mellow. Cool that there was once a lift there. Will they ever open the Poma Line for skiing? I know that they were REAL strict on keeping that line closed and they would clip tickets of violators.

i THINK, and i could be wrong, but its now a power line or something owned by vermont electric. i could be way off, but i recall hearing that a while ago. Anyway, if so, it would explain the strictness in their policy of nailing people who ski it.

I skied the poma line a lot during the 01', 02' seasons and I never even cut a rope to ski it. their is/was a tight little entrance to get to it from the top of the giant killer and I never saw anyone get bagged. things might be different now since I haven't been there in 4 years, but as far as I knew it was fair game, great tree shots off it too.

...it is one of those weird looking yan high speeders. yan makes some freaky looking lifts. on top of that, it was retro-fitted due to safety reasons after a yan at a different area had some "issues."

I love the looks of that lift! I think it is pretty cool!

The chairs kinda bug me because they have fluted backs...so you have to sit in a certain spot and if you are riding solo, you are limited to where you can sit. The YAN lifts are supposed to have a post-modern look to them and they are trendy. The fixed grip lifts were very desirable because of their design, cost, and durability. Read an article, on Chairlift.org I think, talking about the HSQ issue. Yan was in the "race" and, over the protests of their engineers, rushed the fatal grip design through in order to make a cheaper lift faster.

i believe it's owned by verizon wireless.

cool thread. i got my first pico season pass when i was 10.
pretty neat seeing those old school trail maps. i rember a lot of that stuff when it was up and running. kinda weird not having bronco on the map in the outpost area in 1988-89.

Drove by the other day and folks were in the hotel/condos at the base. Good to see that. Otherwise, pretty quiet. Are they still running the summer attractions there?

all I can say about PICO is that the POW lasts days after Kmart has been tracked out in a matter of hours...
