OK Last I will say on this situation and then I am out.
The issue with most people is that they form an opinion about the Ukraine conflict without fully understanding the history of that region. Russia's continuous expantion after the collaple of the Berlin wall and subsequant independence of many old Russian territories is both continuous and unrelenting.
- Look at the history of Crimea and the Russian takeover in 2014.
- Starting in 1989 the Russia Army caved out the Transnistria area in Moldova and baically anexed that.
- In 2008 the Russia invaded Georgia and took over South Ossetia and Abkhazia to expand their territory on the Black Sea.
- The current confilct now makes it more likely that Ukraine will have to give up a huge chunk of the Donbas region giving them more Black Sea Ports. Maybe more if aid ceases to be given. Maybe it will be all the way to Odesa and Kyiv as Putin has said continuously. Where does it stop?
- Just recently the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have moved to removed themselves from the Russian Power grid and connect to the EU. Many think this will be the start of the next phase of Russian tensions. If any of these three start talking NATO it would be the end of Baltic–Soviet relations and Maybe war.
Please understand fully the history before thinking that Putin is going to stop. How anyone cannot understand that Vladimir Putin can't trusted is beyond me. He has proven again and again that he will not rest until he has regained a greater portion of what they lost 35 years ago. The current administration's disregard of this threat is both foolish and dangerous.
