It was supposed to be in the 20s by midnight but stayed above freezing until probably 5ish. There was rain happening at 1:00. Absolutely nightmare grooming conditions to begin with, and then all the shit passes froze solid. Tonight will be the kind of weather where you find out who can actually operate a snowcat and who just drives around the mountain with the tiller.

Yeah, already off the hill. Brutal.
Same- one and done at 9!am
Saw no less than 4 boarders walking down.
Hard and smooth- buds say GH a little better but waiting fir warm up that forecast at 2000’ days is unlikely.

Yea...it was still 43 at the base when I went to sleep a little before midnight which I knew was not going to be good unless it never dropped. Then I read MRG's report this morning when I woke up where they said the groomers reported at 3:30am it was way too wet to groom and finally got out at 5am and saw temps below freezing at all elevations. That's when I really knew things were going to be rough...so not like I was surprised. (Although I was hoping to be wrong).

Grabbing a sandwich on the patio overlooking bravo if anyone is around. Grey jacket and orange pants.

Conditions still blow if anyone was curious.

Tomorrow would be a bit better as at least it will be frozen before they groom...

This explains why I saw noone in line at the 'Rock (on the web cam) a couple hours ago.... and very few on Bravo/VH. Gate House looked busy, probably cause more "sun" and the late groom.

What I found amazing...packing up to leave in the boot room...see people getting ready to go out.
Be careful out there..
why?
Um..its a sheet of ice..
It is ??
It rained and froze last night
It did ?
Shit we just drove 5 hours....

How do you not even look at weather and conditions before making a drive like this...there are so many resources to figure this out...amazing!

Yea...I'm really amazed at things like that as well. Practically everyone these days has Internet access in the palm of their hands...so there's really no excuse for not knowing basic things like what the weather is like.

I can understand booking a trip in advance and going anyway regardless of the weather (I did that plenty of times years ago...some trips were great, others were not). But I can't understand not at least knowing what to expect.

Yeah too bad there is not some guy on Facebook who could give them weather advice, stole a trademark, and likes to talk about skiing sleet, so....

Shit day. Literally lapped Sleeper. But around 2pm I went up NL for a couple of runs and did the skier's right of birch (the bumped part) over to the lower part of Morning Star. It was surprisingly edgeable and fun.

I'll be back out there tomorrow. I still have to drive home so will be done by 1pm, but if it's another shit day, I'll be on the road by 11ish.

I'm staying in Burlington. It's been more of a food trip. Dinner last night at the new (and outstanding) Paradiso Hi-Fi. Today, after skiing went to Pro-Pig for a beer and a pickle plate. Pizza tonight at the controversial Pizzeria Ida (count me on the side of good, but far from great).
