I see on Facebook that Skiology Matt is ranting about Sugarbush's high day ticket prices at this point in the season. Personally I'm kind of a fan of somewhat high day ticket prices right now (at least on weekends). I don't see why Sugarbush (or anyone still open) should kiss someone's ass with cheap day tickets if they purchased a pass to another resort (or set of resorts) that don't stay open this late. If you want to benefit from Sugarbush's late season...be a passholder here.

Whoever runs Sugarbush's social media accounts is pretty savage! In their recent post announcing they were grooming Steins some people complained that it should have been groomed a long time ago and told Sugarbush to reevaluate using the whales as a marketing strategy. This was Sugarbush's response:

I saw that and agree with the response. It would have been uncalled for if the person did not accuse them of a marketing ploy. Once someone behind the keyboard starts accusing and not just giving feedback, it was always gloves off for me. The customer isn't always right lol.

LOL I think that response is perfect. I don't understand people that think a goomed steins is safer or better. They have this vision of perfect chord on a black diamond slope. Reality is it is good for about 2 hours . and then it is a flat icy slope where you can fall and slide a long way. Oh and what kind of grrom do you get after the first real rain storm? Use Upper Organgrinder as an example this year. Anybody ski it eariler in the year after they groomed it? LOL Ya ok groom it all.

Skiing the whales was a lot of fun at times. Added some more variety. At other times I stayed away. But I stay away at least as often when it's groomed too.

Refreshing to see a company give a snarky non-PC response like that!

And even 2 hours may be pushing it! On days when it was groomed in the past, I'd usually hit it within the first hour after opening. After that I would stay away again unless it had fresh snow or dry gunpowder under the guns if they were running or soft bumps if it had bumped back up, etc. If it was flattened and slick...I had no interest in skiing it.

I remember plenty of days in the past when it was flat and no one was on it because it was slick. I guess the people that want it groomed more often don't remember all the days it was empty and essentially unused after being groomed other years due to how slick it would get without constant grooming.

I agree with this. Unless there is fresh snow or spring conditions, I pretty much stay away from both Stein's and Upper OG. I've mentioned it before, but last season I had a very high speed sideways slide down a boiler plate section of OG that could have easily ended up poorly.

I suspect that the people that want it groomed have only skied it in perfect conditions rather than in the more common condition.

Man, there is a shit ton of snow on that trail. Looks like there's enough to make it into Mid-May. How's coffee run looking?

I need to see it in person this weekend. I was looking at slug's photos and actually thought it didn't look as deep as I expected lol. Could just be the angle of the photo though...

It's plenty deep..and if they are creative with snow moving..they can keep a few more runs in good shape.

Murphys had great moguls all the way.
Chute to lower organ grinder getting pretty thin but should last . Lower organ was fine.
Spring Fling is ok
Lower snowball was sticky..
Didn't bother going to the top but organ is all moguled up.
Downspout was very good.
