CD have you tried the Tucker Hill Inn

Tucker Hill
Tucker Hill Inn blew it last year with their limited menu /theme nights. Prix-Fixe menu and you had to make an online reservation that included a 23% "Service Charge" as well as a Tock fee just to make a reservation. Looks like this year it's going to be a reasonably priced Italian inspired menu.

I forgot about Fit to be Tai'd at the sugarbush Inn. I have had good tai meals there over the last few years. Go earlier.

Did the drive to Waterbury a few times for dinners last season... lazy don't want to drive that far after a full day of skiing and some apres.

We always get take out from Fit To Be Thai'd. We should eat in sometime. I noticed they have some music stuff set up... PA guitar, etc. Does anyone ever play there?

Tucker Hill

Not since the new owners took over. Either last year or the year before they were doing a very limited prix-fixe theme dinner every Saturday and Friday nights was pub food when I checked. Looks like that might have changed now which is good. Although the website says they're only seating downstairs? Yikes...that's not many tables.

Go to Waterbury

I have no desire to drive that far to dinner in the winter...there need to be options locally in the valley.

Love Fit to be Thai'd. But still doesn't fill that gap I'm referring to... As much as I love Thai food, I don't want to go out for the same thing every week. (Maybe why this is why I cook so much myself).

Yes...Bruce (the owner) plays from time to time. Not sure about anyone else though. He's the only one I've ever seen/heard playing.

I like Fit to Be Thai'd,... It is not easy to order out from them though. I have called there at like 5:00 and they won't even pick up the phone. The food is good, but I have lost my patience with them. I've been to Tucker Hill and it was good when i went. I don't remember a 23% service fee for a reservation,.. if that is still the case, I don't think I will be back. Any word on if Chez Herni's will be open this year? I do agree with the sentiment that there just are too few options in the Valley. Pitcher Inn is nice, but its like $500 for a party of 4.

I miss Pizza Soul when he was in the village. In the past, I would place my order when I got off at exits 5 and pick it up on my way in.

We have gotten to the point where we just plan our meals ahead and cook at home. Maybe CD can share some of his recipes? :sneaky:

For all the reasons discussed upthread, we more often than not stay in Burlington. Granted we don't have a group of regulars at Sugarbush to hang with after skiing so it may be a bit different. But my routine is ski hard...leave the mountain around 3pm, grab a coffee at VT Artisan Coffee north of Waterbury and then head back to Burlington. Shower up, chill for a bit, and then head out for apres/dinner. Back at the hotel on the early side, go to bed, rinse, repeat.

The only times I stay near the mountain are when I think there's the possibility for bad weather to cause problems getting to and from the mountain if staying in Burlington.

Additionally, my wife doesn't ski anymore so it's easier for her to mosey around Burlington while the kids and I take the car to the mountain.

Yes, I just saw somewhere recently that Chez Henri plans to reopen this year. I really like the ambiance there, but I think the food lacks creativity (too simple/traditional French from my view). I'll still likely go there once or twice.

Also lol at the last comment. I'd never have an issue sharing recipes if anyone seriously wanted them.

Your recipes look to be beyond my cooking skills,... would you offer takeout? :ROFLMAO:
Kitchenette already covers that model. Dino Bones too for BBQ. The solution is obvious. CD needs to open a restaurant! May I suggest downstairs from the Reks or the old Mutha Stuffers? Close to you, and super convenient for me;) I hear there will be an extensive wine collection with a whole page from the Finger Lakes region.

I always bring a guitar with me when we stay for the week. I'll ask him if he wants to jam.

2 New Years Eves ago we had a group of 6 friends, 3 couples, who had rooms at Tucker Hill and a couple of friends staying at the Swiss Ski Club house and Me and Robin all had a great dinner there. They put us in a private alcove off the dining room and we basically had a party. Food and service were both very good.

I didn’t see CDskiers comment
I don't find Chez Henri how CD does. His Duck is done really well. The veal is awsome. His fondu is very traditional and rich. The beef tartar is made fresh to order and has the perfect amount of caper and spice. Whatever is the special for that particular evening, I usually order it. I have never had a bad special. I could go on. If you have not gone you should. I eat there at lease half a dozen times a season.
