One and done on GH today. 25-minute lift line not worth it. Sleeper was fun (did not go on the chute as it was pretty bare). Stayed to the side and just made slow turns, aiming for white stuff. If line had be the usual time, I'd have taken one or two more, but not where it was today.

Hope this event this week is not too damaging but we'll see.

it’s a PR nightmare for sure. Hopefully Alterra feels some sting and makes some changes. Opening up GH first is idiotic on multiple levels and this year exposed it.
Oh they will make changes if this season sucks. Cancel NRX and invest less. Apparently folks are too young to remember ASC. You’re a corporate ski resort again. It’s about the bottom line. Meanwhile they can’t get enough folks out here to install all the new lifts this summer at Deer Valley.

As a Killington skier I can't tell you how happy I am that the sale went as it did. It would have sucked if alltera bought K.

It's like Sugarbush and Killington had a huge reversal of fortune in a two year period. One went from independent to owned by a company that would rather spend its money elsewhere, and the other the total opposite.

Im seeing nothing but SB bashing in every NorthEast ski group…definitely alot of bad pr from this botched early season. The extra natural snowfall makes it even worse when every other area in VT is thriving

I Was on the gondola today at Killington today and started talking to a local, he mentioned rumors Killington will dump Ikon at the end of this season.

Wishful thinking I suspect - how would Killington make up for the loss in revenue ? Cut back operations ? Raise prices ?

If they open the Rock for skinning or run the chair or expand terrain in any way tomorrow it will be kicking their core group of skiers in the nuts extra hard!

Local bar rumor mill has HG concrete failing a second inspection. A delay potentially to Feb?

Unconfirmed rumor- it IS mid December tho- promised opening projection if I recall. .

Really they got hit with a perfect storm: HG taking a little longer than planned (and counting), extreme drought conditions, and an absolutely inflexible opening rollout policy.

Someone made that comment about the concrete on Facebook a few days ago and Sugarbush simply replied that it was still on track for opening in mid-December.

I'd consider next weekend mid-December...so we'll see what happens. Of course if they can't make snow to get to the lift...it won't matter anyway!

Looks like snowmaking temps back after then downpour on Wednesday. Hopefully enough to get SB/SF at least and patch GH trails.
