Nowhere now, but everywhere
Thinking about how this season is playing out,
Sunday River was impressive last weekend. They have terrain on 4 different mountains, 30 trails with all the connectors done. The 8 and 6 packs with the heated seats and bubles are really nice. I felt like I was back in Austria.
FYI if there is any new snow, the connectors give your the ability to poach all kinds of terrain. All of Aroura and White Cap is closed so that is a bonus. That is all we did all weekend with my old crew over there.
Thinking about how this season is playing out, as a longtime Sugarbush rider, I never really liked the IKON pass when it was introduced to us. Now I’m really grateful to have it as it is allowing me to ski other areas and not be stuck at Sugarbush this year. I would be really upset if I only had the Sugarbush season’s pass as things used to be. And as I have come to find, these other areas are actually a lot of fun and it’s been good to get away. So glad to have some options!

Kusty, once you leave Jordan, All of Aroura is closed. You can ski all of northern lights, lower Vortex, Paradigm or the glades and then just cat track the work road back to North peak easy peazy. It was all totally untracked. Same thing with Obsession over at white cap but you just had to go to the hotel and take the bus back ;-)

After 39 years of buying a pass at Sugarbush I understand the environmental challenges. When the snow is great there is no better place to be and most of us do not ski here for snowmaking.

However the inability for the mountain to pivot is inexcusable. Do they open the lift ten minutes early on a powderday, do they keep Ellen open because they are building a lift and close HG when conditions finally th got good last year. We know the answer. The water issue was a fact months and no other plans were considered.

The communications are also inexcusable for a business in a small town that affects the town financially and socially.

We pay good money months in advance for a company who says be better here- what does that mean? They are selling a service that they are not delivering. This is not just about this year and it will repeat again. Unfortunately the service has become worse on all counts in the past few years.

So lets suck it up and continue to pay over 12 for beer and 3700 for a kids ski program fora business that does not care about Sugarbush and the community -or maybe just maybe they will be better here and move forward.

Great post. My nitpick, is: aren't the days of $12 beers long gone? I recall at the end of last season feeling like they were trolling us and just begging us to byob (though I don't recall the actual price).

I have the Alterra pass so only option is Stratton and I'm not doing that. Could do MRG or Bolton, but it's $200 at Stowe.

Really hoping for some wrap around snow to bond with soft snow before it locks up. Don't be surprised if snowmaking does not start up again for a few days after the rain so the pond can fill. If the river level stays high hopefully they can draw water from the river while making snow.

The pass to Altera mountains is the iKon which gives you 7 days at Killington. Multiple mountains/pods open on just natural there.

I suspect the pass ducky is referring to is not one available to the general public... (i.e. an employee pass or something more along those lines)

I'm not sure why people are questioning this. I'm sure ducky knows what he has...

Hope it fills quickly. The round the clock snowmaking window, especially down low, probably ends Sunday, definitely Monday.
