Hope it fills quickly. The round the clock snowmaking window, especially down low, probably ends Sunday, definitely Monday.
They'll be running Thur PM to Sunday AM at Black Mtn I suspect it will similar everywhere in New England.

The upcoming rain I hope while awful will help everyone's water position.

So is the goal for us to,get a shit ton of rain (this week and even next wee) so they can fill the snowmaking ponds and then we have enough water for the rest of the season?
There was a previous post that a full pond supports 100 hours of snowmaking.

Butt hopefully the table comes up so the Mad River is up enough to support continuous refill. Which I can't see how it won't be considering not only the rain coming but the melt that will occur.

While cold through the weekend after this latest coming in. Next wednesday the euro and GFS are showing a warmup and nonfrozen precip next wednesday. Yes It is a ways out and will most likely change but it may not
I was looking a bit more long term than next week. Long term guidance is at least active, storms are gonna pop up in the 3-5 day range.

That's the key. If the table comes up and we have refills, then we'll be in better shape. If the table doesn't come up enough to support refills, then we'll be playing a delicate balancing act between snow-making and water availability.

from NWS

.HYDROLOGY...
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the area tonight
through Wednesday night, which combined with snow melt will
cause sharp rises on local streams and rivers. Minor urban and
poor drainage flooding will also be possible. Several rivers are
forecast to hit minor flood stage, with the Otter Creek in
Center Rutland forecast to reach moderate flood stage, rivers
are expected to crest Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts of 1 to
3 inches are expected, with localized higher amounts possible.
A flood watch has been issued for threat of river and flash
flooding from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

First time ever that I think this type of forecast is good! Bring on the floods!

Ditto. Much rather have nat snow and no snowmaking...like it was when I first skied Sugarbush around 1971.

i know its coming but i am definitely not hoping for it.

the getting has been great elsewhere and id be more than happy to just wait for sugarbush to be able to get open on natural snow, vs a washout of everyones healthy early snowpacks so sugarbush's pond benefits.

Sugarbush has too many people to rely entirely on natural snow. They need to be able to cover the key routes with at least some man-made snow.

They had lots of skiers in the 70's. Plasce was a zoo.

It's a moot point though. That type of solid winter is seldom seen 'round hear these days.

Expectations are also vastly different now than in the 70s...

Apples and oranges comparison.
