It will be OK this weekend. Certainly not sellar. Friday will be good. I kind of like weekends like this one. NO one will come and it will only be the usual suspects. You ski a bit, screw around a bit, socailize and start Apre early. You can actually go into the castlerock and get a beer with people. All in all, better then just sitting around or staying home.

I will admit that I also enjoy weekends this time of the season like we're probably going to have. Get some runs in, then get together for some fun and laughs with a core crew of your ski friends, some of whom you may not see very much, if at all, until the ski season starts back up again in the Fall. The commraderie from friends with a like passion for the sport, off the hill, at times can be as important as runs down the hill with them

This is where having a home up there is key. I'm a bit jealous.

I don't love spring skiing for this reason...the snow is only good for a short period so Apres and hanging out starts early. This isn't a bad thing at all. But I'm not much of a day drinker and it's asking a lot to drive 5.5 hours each way and pay for a room to ski a few runs and drink a few beers.

I understand your situation Mike. I have been fortuate and have always had a place to stay. For the first 17 years we did a very large ski house with many of the same people over the years. It garnered many tremendous relationships that I still enjoy. After that I desided to buy instead of rent as an investment in the future. Originally I was going to rent it out for periods of time but I grew way to dependent on going up every weekend and twice a month in the summer so no Renting. A choice I do not regret. Unfortuantly that ship has sailed over the last 10 years with the prices.

i like variety too much and have such a high tolerance for shitty accomodations that it never made any sense for me to consider seasonal rentals.

but yea it definitely makes weekends like this one really unappealing to go and spend money on meh skiing under cold clouds and rain

hoping that weekend of the 11th and the long weekend of the 18th deliver some long sunny corn days. i've got killington access burning a hole in my pass pocket.

Sounds like a great situation. I'm happy for you! The best part is to be able to do it all with friends.

For a few years before covid I looked around for a place in the MRV. Never found exactly what I was looking for within my budget and then post covid, as you said, that ship has sailed for me. It would have always been a tough sell as my wife "retired" from skiing 6-7 years ago and she greatly prefers the big city rather than the great outdoors. I think the last time she came to VT with me was in December of 2023. Luckily, she's pretty tolerant of my skiing and outdoor preferences. But it does leave me skiing by myself a decent amount, which I'm okay with. But not on a spring skiing day when apres is more of the focus. Day drinking is one thing. Day drinking alone is another.

I'm in the same boat. I still have all 5 of mine and these past two weekends have not been optimal for using them. Too long a trip for me to justify just 1 day of good spring skiing then meh the rest of the weekend.

Like this weekend for example. Friday looks like it'll probably be good. After that meh to bleh. 10 hours of driving and hotel just for tomorrow is a bit of a stretch for me at least.
