Getting turned back feet from the chin after laying in a shallow depression for 10 minutes waiting for the hurricane force winds to die down when it's 4 degrees.

You're a complicated man.

I love the freedom of it; the mindlessness, living in the moment and not thinking about anything else; the finding of something to enjoy during the otherwise dark, long winter [I have some SAD issues and skiing helps with that]; the friends I have made through the sport; the fact that I can do it and am progressing, since I am not naturally athletic.

I love getting into a nice woods run, and then just stopping to take the time to look around and take in all the fresh mountain air and beautiful scenery, and think to myself what a unique sport this is. Must be the altitude!

actually, its the independence. its your game and yours alone. you make up all the rules and no one is there to bail you out.

and yeah, like most of us, i just love being in, on and around snow.

the feeling of utter freedom and peace
the rush of speed
the quiet beauty of skiing wooded trails midweek that are not yet broken by another's skis
the sense of joy on my grandkids and adult childrens faces when we ski at Christmas and Presidents weeks-- and the grandkids thinking that their grampa is pretty kewl for his age

And finally the tremendous sense of satisfaction and well being i get from being able to do this sport at a reasonably high level of skill at 65 years of age -- it keeps me young at heart and provides "Joie d'vivre"

Thanks just stay in shape and you do FINE

I had several guys who are now in ther late 70's mentor me when i got started - they still rip very well !!

one was a Dartmouth skier in the middle 1950's and three were a hockey pucks from ST Lawrence U in that same time period -- they ARE truly inspirational ski 5- 6 hrs top to bottom "take no prisoners" nonstop runs

Yes, for me that seems to be the key too, stay in shape and I don't get sick and I heal faster. Just got out of the pool after the collar bone operation two weeks ago tomorrow. Feels much looser now, glad I pushed it a little.

The weightless, bouncy feeling skiing pow gives you.
Smashing through crusty shite.
Faceshots.
The White Room.
Enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Filming and snapping pics while skiing/in the mtns.
The dampening effect skiing in the woods has on sound.
Hanging with good friends.
The cold air.
The bright sunshine.
Skiing switch.
Trying to find natural terrain features to jib and play around on.
Spicy Bloody Mary's.
Apres Beers and shots of Jaeger.
Going fast.
Soft spring bumps.
Safety meetings in the woods.
How my girl's cheeks turn red.
