Dude, we’re both being sarcastic, that is going to be a great trail, long, steep, not too wide and has several bends. One long timer who hiked it said he thinks it will be the best trail on the mountain. That’s sayin something.

HPD, Great picture of Empire. I skied it in early January ( see TR ) but it looks like I'll have to come back up and try it again. I didn't weigh in on the Whiteface/Okemo thread because I haven't skied at Okemo.( Which I believe was your point ) Glad to see the mountain looking so good. Any news on the Slides?

Is the narrower cut line to the right the lift line? If so, will it be a marked trail?

It is and I doubt it. In the ADKs there is a 25 mile max for trails at ski resorts. When the expansion is finished it gives us something like 24.5 miles. There are other lift lines that you can't ski (although they're pouched all the time) that are not open, I'm told for this reason.

Here's a pic of under the Summit Chair.

Alot of snow in there. I think because of the ice underneath it's doubtful it will be open this weekend. I'm thinking they'll get a pouchin this weekend. Especially Slide 1 where you can stay out of sight if you stay tight and skier's right. Only those who know the terrain should even consider it though. Very dangerous.

Yeah, I knew the Summit Chair lift line wasn't an official trial. I was aware of the max, but I didn't realize that a lift line doesn't count -- it is a cut just like a trail. Looks nice and narrow and fun, probably better than whatever trail they'll cut instead. Oh well.

No, the liftline is not a trail, but the master plan includes cutting an additional trail down the same face as Hoyt's High, as well as having another diamond dropping off the ridge to the right and heading back to the lift loading area. The extra long intermediate, which has already been cut, and the 65 acres of glades, which I think have not been cut yet, are on the other side of the ridge to the right.
