1st the rumours of some form of red sox promo were talked about close to a month ago I think..

Thinkers/. Morals. What is being suggested is in bad taste is my point.

Skidude 172 I saw your name on the Sr board.

The Press release said nothing about a seriers win that I saw. I think part of the reason its not high in detail is its a promotion to get us to talk about it.

I'm sure the game is sold out anyway. If your scalping a ticket in front of Fenway to get a free ticket to ski sunday river.... Try a Warren Miller promo.

It was being said on the SR forums that the tickets are only valid if the Red Sox win the World Series. Can anyone substantiate that?

Thanks.

That's interesting. Probably just rumor, but interesting. Boyne could actually hedge their tickets "bet", by betting on the Sox to win to lower the cost of the promotion. If they make it to the finals and the odds are merely 2-1 soxs, a $930,000 dollar bet could fully cover a 80% redemption rate at full ticket value, dramatically lowering the cost of the promo.

The break down of the population is something like 80-19.9999999-.00000001. It's been determined that I'm actually one of the "scatter-brains"....basically by the military.

.00000001 percent of the population means that you're one in ten billion. There's only been one person in the last century who thinks like you do.

You sure that's not the military trying to convince you you're special so that you'll enlist? ;)

(Just kidding. I get the gist of what you're saying.)

Very savy of you on the numbers. It was actually quoted to me as something more like .0002 or .00002. I can't remember exactly. The point was that people who think in star formation are quite rare  I could just as soon do without it myself. I discovered it by complaining that I can't even remember if I shampooed my head or not in the shower 2 minutes after I shampooed it (not every time, but a lot more than I would like). I thought I had memory problems but it turned out I just think way too much.

If this is true, it makes sense. There are firms out there who write insurance policies like this, so that if they Sox did win the WS, Boyne would get compensated for the giveaway. We shall see if this is the case.

You are 100% correct. That's also a slightly more "legal" way for a corporation to "gamble". If they just gamble at "cost" value they could maybe skate out of it for like two to four hundred k.

As I said on the SR MB, I hope SK throws a snow ball.

Hey...that's a really good idea too. MLB might have something to say about it though. Maybe he could throw the snowball first as a gag...then the game ball?

There is, and there isn't. The debt is still there. CNL could belly up. The lease agreements could be growth stiffling or be too sweet and end up in re-negotiation litigation. The only real difference now is the resorts have hopefully been blead down to something a bit closer to functional financed values than they were under ASC... enabling them to actually stay afloat. My view is 2 companies are actually worse than one, as they are likely going to burn up a lot of money in legal fees in negotiations amongst themselves.

you seem to have all the answers...you should change your screen name to starman.

I don't know. It's about the only way this promo makes any sense. For them to just straight giveaway 10% of the resorts tickets for the year (the same 10% that makes you 50% of your money) just doesn't make any sense. If the world series thing is true it brings the total cost of the promo down to maybe 250K, which does make a lot of sense because they WILL get 250K worth of new people out to the resort out of 2.4 million and the advertising value of the promo is WORTH 250k.

Actually Jordan's furniture did a promotion in March this year that went something like: buy furniture during a certain week and if the Sox win the World Series, the furniture is free. Heard they took out an insurance policy to cover them

We were shopping for furniture at the time. The place was packed, I asked the salesguy if it was because of the promotion and he replied that the 'red sox' promotion was one of the best they had ever run.

Point for Sunday River is that would have made sense to tie it to a world series victory becasue it lowers their liability and the resale appeal but at the same time doesnt cut into the publicity.

Just wait for a report after the game from a person that went.

I'm more excited about learning the real story to this than I've ever been about any baseball game. It's like...like.....like... the ski resort advertising world series! :daffy:

A little more information came out in the media today-
According to AK, they need to be used by January and are blacked-out for Christmas and Thanksgiving weeks.

It could go either way. My bet? A free ticket to everyone that goes. And I'd go so far as to bet that they get a redemtion rate of no more then 5%.

This is also based on the limits that will be placed on the tickets. They'll be early season, with perhaps a few mid season 'dead period' days.
