Exactly. I, too, ski Mount Snow regularly but do not always hold the same fond opinion of others. I can say that the days I skied were good, a couple REALLY good. But that is because I have been choosey about picking the days. Like WarpDaddy, I'm protecting myself this year from injuries. Two bad falls on hardpack last year have left me cautious. As soon as the boiler plate starts coming thru (and there is plenty of it at Mt Snow by lunch time), I'm headed back to the condo. It is just not worth getting hurt again. I will admit the conditions are surprisingly good early in the day, considering the season they have been dealt. But by early afternoon, it just gets ugly.

That's how we've been operating this year. On the lifts by 7:30 on Saturdays...usually heading off the slopes by lunchtime. Similar deal Sunday. We hammer out as many good runs as we can when the conditions are good and the crowds are low.

The one day I skiied at Mount Snow the conditions were good most of the day were the sun was but that was superbowl Sunday so that kept the crowds away.

Skied Mon.-Thurs at K this week. Conditions got better & better each day as they kept tilling the majority of trails daily. Yesterday you'd have a hard time finding any ice anywhere on the mountain. Even OL was groomed out on Tues & skied well all week. Superstar had the guns going top to bottom for several days up until Mon. night when it warmed up. Quite impressive the amount of snow on that trail. They left the guns & hoses in place on both Superstar & Outer Limits so I'd expect them to be turned back on when it gets cold again. I really don't know what all the complaining is about since my season has been pretty good so far. I even had a few powder days this year. Yeah it's disappointing that some expert trails & the woods haven't been good but what is open is very good. I skied only K this week but have been around both northern & southern VT. & found conditions good everywhere. There is definitely more natural up north but not significantly more. Here's what Superstar looked like yesterday (it was like this top to bottom).

That looks pretty good! I'm heading up to Magic Sunday morning for the week adn I'm looking forward to it regardless of the current conditions which aren't too bad at all. Will likely head north for a day maybe to the Bush or K if we decide not to go too far.

I'm sure they're after the bragging rights of "Open Earliest" and "Closed Latest" so I'm not surprised they're piling up snow.

The mound of snow on the top of Supe is unbelievable. You have to climb at least a 20ft. high mound of snow to get over to Skyelark. For those that don't know it's normally a flat traverse to get over there. Sorry I don't have a picture of it.

We've been doing the same. I love the 7:30 AM Express (Glenn . . . I think we've randomly hit the same chair twice this year).

But the real problem is that darn 1900' Burger Joint that Mount Snow opened at the base. I'm sure I'm getting about 1500 calories each time exluding the PBRs (and I haven't even tried those adult based milkshake drinks). After lunch, I need a nap.

Probably need to have my bindings turned up a notch or so.

Conditions were excellent at Jay Peak today. One inch of fresh on top of packed powder surfaces. Very nice. Not much scraped and even less ice. Trees were skiing beautifully. Though I'm sure it'll all be scrapped down the end of tomorrow.

Magic skied very well on Sunday. Talisman was in fine shape and it was a pleasure to see Wizard opened up. What a snowmaking and grooming job. The improvement this season is amazing as Magic continues to advance. Couple that with the Black chair running along with the Red and there was not a line all day. I had limited time and did five runs on Talisman and two on Wizard in 2.5 hours. I have never had more fun on machine made snow.

My girlfriend and I went to Stratton yesterday (I know, I know), but I really have to hand it to them. For the amount of real snow they've received, they are putting together an excellent product. We skiied from 8:30 until 4, and got in probably about 20-25 runs all around the mountains. There was little ice and even on our last run down the main face, the mountain was still skiing nicely.

We weren't expecting much, but ended up getting perhaps our best day of skiing this season.

I had the same experience at two resorts in NH over the weekend. Reading the trip reports from the last couple days, I'd say many others found that conditions are best NOW!
