trips to new areas or revisiting old areas

Hope this hasn’t been covered yet anyone hitting any new ski areas this year? Or re-visiting areas you haven’t skied at in a long time?

Every year I try to ski two new areas; gotta get back to smuggs this year as its been about 7 years since I skied there as well as ascutney as its been 8 years since I last skied that area. Loon has been 6 years but doubt ill be in that area this year
As for new ski areas always looking for new places, maybe a trip to otis ridge Mass followed by a trip to mad river glen is in order? we shall see

I'd like to get back to Ski Liberty and Ski Rountop sometime in the future. It is where I learned to ski, just want to see what it's like these days.

always a debate...go with what works (esp if kids are in the picture) or ventrue off and try new areas...we'll be hitting smuggs again this year for the family trip (great ski school, sick terrain and tons of trees and we dont touch the car for 5 days)....will be hitting Stowe and Burke this year and will prob hit Bromley again with the fam for a weekend

I'm a bit obsessed with adding to my cumulative mountain list (foolishly trying to add 10 new this year). The problem I'm running into is that there are some mountains that make my must-go-to-annually list and I keep finding areas that I want to add. Tough to do them all when I'm mostly a weekend skier these days.

New definites: MRG, Magic
New likely possibilites: Whaleback, Pat's Peak, Dartmouth Skiway, Butternut, Mohawk, Ward Hill, Bradford, McIntyre, Jay
Must-go-to-annually: Sugarbush, Okemo, Sunapee, Bromley, Mt Snow, Sunday River, Belleayre, Middlebury, Suicide6
Need to return to: Black, Sugarloaf, Stowe, Canyons, Alta, Snowbird, Sugarbowl, Alpine Meadows
Will sadly miss a repeat of this year: Saddleback, Smuggs, Bolton

In 44 years of skiing there are very few areas I have never been to (Burke, Wilderness, and most of Maine which is just out of range) but there are alot that I haven't been to in a long time. This year I will spend New Years at Mt Snow which I haven't skied in probably 25 years. Other areas I'm considering are going to be dependent on the weather. If Northern New England gets hit I would love to hit Sugarbush, and Magic/Bromley which like Mt Snow I haven't been to in a long time. If the Accuweather forecast comes true I may not have to travel too far for good snow and would look to places like Catamount, Berkshire East, Jimny Peak, (haven't been to in a long time) and Hunter, Belleayre, and Plattekill (get to the Catskills more often) along with the home range Pocono's. Also want to get to the Mighty Sundown (never been)

So far the definites: Shawnee Peak, Bromley, Stratton, and Pico.

I have been dying to get to Shawnee Peak for the past few years. Not sure why. Seems to have a cool local vibe. (Also the night skiing is supposed to be fun as hell) Also, Ebenezer's Restaurant & Pub is only a stones throw away. A buddy of mine raves about it. :beer:

I have family at Bromley so I will hopefully check that out as well as Stratton.

My buddy (and fellow AZ'er) and I did a new years trip to Pico last year. It was a pretty windy trip so not much was open. Snow was bulletproof. We both decided that it would be a pretty cool place to check out once they dropped more ropes.

Really want to get to Alta. In an unnatural way. Just need to convince the better half that she should spend a few days out west with me.

I love checking out as many new places as I can afford. Having my relatives split between Maine and Vermont gives me a chance to see what places have to offer across New England.

Haven't skied Killinton since about 99. It's on my radar this season.

The long shot is a long weekend up to Quebec City to ski Le Massif and Mt. St. Anne

I try to add at least one new mountain every season. Last year was Le Massif. Year before, Saddleback - both excellent areas. This wnter I'm thinking Hickory Hollow or Burke. I've driven by Burke dozens of times and have never skied there - this could be the year.
