Question for people that know this area. What kind of reputation does this area have? How are the schools? I have a business opportunity in this area and just starting to check things out.

I lived there in the exact town MANY MANY years ago as a kid..as I remember the schools were good, my parents always paid attention to that crap....the area was nice as well..

Good reputation. I think you'll find many here who have once lived or live in Trumbull, including our own grand poo bah.

I was there from 8th grade on. When we moved to the country my parents of course picked the city based mainly on the school system.

We lived there for 1.5 years. We really loved the town. The schools have an excellent reputation. Its part of Fairfield Country but not as expensive as the southern part of the county. You can easily get to the Merritt or 25. Not a ton of stuff going on but its good for the family types.

I grew up in Trumbull until I was 15. Don't know much about it now, but the schools always had a good reputation. Nice town, but it's pretty built up now. Not as expensive as southern Fairfield county, but not cheap either. Of course coming from LI, it's probably inexpensive in comparison.

Now the important stuff: You would be under an hour to Sundown. 2:15 to Jiminy. Under 3 hours to Southern Vermont. Probably 4 to Killington. Under 5 to the MRV. Da Loaf? A measley 6 1/2 hours on a good day.

i work in college admissions and actually travel to that area. Fairfield County in general has some really solid schools. If you have questions on specific schools (well...i only know High Schools) I can help ya out

Nice Town

I did a lot of traveling there a few years ago, for my older daughters soccer practices at St Joseph's High school. I thought it was a very nice town, family oriented and certainly not as expensive...( home price wise), (but then again I am comparing it to Ridgefield) I liked this town alot. However, it was not a choice for us, considering our then commute to NYC for work. If commuting to NYC was not a consideration, I thought this would be a great town, very good schools, a nice place to raise a young family up in... Good luck with your Business venture, LB.

When we lived there I did the 10 min. drive to Bridgeport (plenty of parking) and then a 70 min. train ride into NYC.

Those are some nice trails. We would walk our dogs along one side of the river and always see mtn. bikers on the other side. The side that we walk on is more or less fr walking, jogging, and casual bikers/noob mtn bikers. The other side has more challenging stuff. I've never ridden there myself but based on the number of bikers I see there has to be some decent stuff. There is a commuter lot right off of 25 that most bikers park at.

I lived less than a half mile from there. You guys must be talking about the Pequonack River Valley (normally referred to as just "The Valley", at least back in the day). There's an old railroad bed that runs from just north of Whitney Avenue to Daniels Farm Road. As early teens, we used to ride dirt bikes in there. It's a great trout stream too.
