Having been in a relationship with both a skier and a non skier. The non skier has it benefits. If you are different ability levels it could lead to a not so great day.

I mainly ski with friends so there is no reason to bring her along.

If you go away with another couple etc, she can get a massage etc, and you are free to ski all day.

Works for me.

Does she not ski because she doesn't like it or hasn't tried? I didn't learn to ski until I was 26 years old, and that came about because Brian finally introduced me to it. Now I'm nearly as addicted as he is.

If she's not going to ski, though, she'll have to be a really understanding woman. Being a ski widow can really suck at times.

Address your concern with her directly if you two really get along. If you haven't already, make it clear to her that you are ski junky and this is not an optional component of your life.

My girl of over four years doesn't ski. There is more to life than skiing. She just took her first lesson this season though, so there is hope

A GF, wife, or SO that doesn't ski is not necessarily a bad thing. My wife does ski, but she's not as crazy about it as me. If she skis a half dozen times per season, that's a lot. I expect that she will ski more as the kids start to.

Anyway, it's good to have your own endeavors. Just be sure you set the precedent early on that skiing is very important to you and that you'll be doing it a lot, with or without her.

My wife doesn't ski....at all. And yes, at times it has put a strain on our relationship as she can't understand the need to get out 20-plus days a year. I wish that she did ski as it's something I'd love to share with her, but it doesn't exactly mean an end all.

Once our son is ready to strap 'em on, I wonder if she'll be pressured to try again in order to share that, so we shall see.
