Andy got me thinking. Here's an idea waiting for an inventor.

How about a rechargeable ticket, so you only have one damn ticket on your jacket no matter where you are. It's good for whatever you buy - one day, multi day, season. It's got each resort coded separately. I could be a season ticket holder at Sundown and have a 1 day pass at JP all on the same card. Maybe it could even be a "chip" so they don't have to scan it.

I realize it would take all resorts coordinating, which is a lot of work, and the outlyers could still use paper tix if they want to.
Maybe the resort is too concerned with two people using the same day ticket in one day, hey, they could put a photo on it too, to reduced transfer theft.

Has this already been considered and dropped?

cool idea..but it seems like a costly system to implement..especially considering that most ski areas are just barely making a profit..I'm guessing they have a system like that in Europe..

Nah, it would be to costly to centralize such a system. I do however favor a chip system, couple places in Utah have it and it's great, no ticket checkers! :)

it could be set up kinda like easypass on the roads, i guess. Areas could opt-in, and places with the system could set up a gate in teh liftline. It's got merit, it's just tough to see small areas like black, etc jumping in.

Yep, that's one of the first things that came to my mind, EZ Pass, which, in NJ anyway, claims to be loosing tons of money.

they do that in CO too. All vail resorts are good on the same pass. same with colordo pass ect. It's cool they use the rss system so they don't even scan it, just wave the scanner at you and it picks up the signal, gives them your pic and # of days
