....Marmot....

But careful to select on a piece by piece basis for quality (which can vary greatly within even the good companies), and of course price (my wife taught me to shop like a little old lady...hey, she's not one!...and it's a great feeling getting the goods at a great price).

I've had a couple Mountain Hard Wear jackets that I really enjoyed. Super quality. Too many pocket though. I have a red Marmot Jacket I picked up last year that I love. I'm a big fan of buying shell jackets that are rated highly for waterproofness and use different wieght fleece jackets underneath for insulation.
My fleece is from Ragged Mountain Equipment in Intervale,NH(next town north of N. Conway). I LOVE that shop.
Pants MUST have a zipper that runs all the way down the leg for my approval. I get hot quick! Just remember to zip them back up before you get into the POW.
I've never had any luck with EMS. In fact let me go as far as saying that I think EMS sells junk. I had brand new EMS gloves that desintegrated on my hands before noon. Similar problems with an EMS pack. When I brought them back to the store they told me I must have abused them and would not refund my money. LLBean gets my buisness for that stuff now. They are a company thats not afraid to stand behind the gear they sell.

Ragged Mountain Equipment is like a candy store for anyone that plays in the mountains. And they are reasonably priced. On the other hand, Rick Wilcox's store, International Mountain Equipment in N. Conway sells ultra high end gear. But I've experienced poor service there. I've found that unless you are into climbing vertical rock or ice they want nothing to do with you. Kinda snobbish. And thier prices are outta site! But going there is worht the trip just so you can go upstairs and see the largest 3-d model of Mt. Everest in the world (I think). For those who dont know,Rick Wilcox was the first person from NH to climb Mt. Everest and is a key figure in the search and rescue community of the White Mountains and Presidentials. Definately reccomend seeing his slideshow! WOW!

New TNF shell off eBay cheap, hopefully will hold up better than most of their stuff. Prefer Spyder, but don't have the extra cash now and prefer to go shells with layers underneath which isn't their specialty.

Hate Columbia, had a shell that would be lined with condensation after a couple runs no matter the weather.

Holy cats...looks like, in a pinch, you could boil those up and stay alive a week just eatin' them ! Elk stew....yum.

The pair I have is about 5 or 6 seasons old. They are, as an Irish friend of mine called them "Bomber". They have removable liners, so I'll carry a spare pair of liners on wet days. Great product, particularly if you have to do manual work. Think I'll join you

Those gloves look pretty rugged, how warm are they? The price isn't bad either...

Starter jacket. Boston Bruins or my San Jose Sharks.
Nuff said.
HEH! Who are you kidding pal? You're a frickin walking sponsorship.

Personally, I'm a fan of clothes that fit...a bit of a challenge for my height.

Cabela's catalog has served me very well over these past 10 years...their (less expensive) version of Gore-Tex (they offer GoreTex, but this stuff is Dry Max...meh). Good pockets, underarm zips, long in the body, long in the sleeve, zip-out liner.

The pants are also pretty good...although if it's not cold, I'm likely to wear good running pants with a layer of fleece inside (or less). Legs don't get cold as long as I keep the wind off (and have a warm layer to keep cold/wet seats away from 4th point of contact. *smirk*

Going with mittens this year. I hate mittens, but there's no doubt they are warmer. I'm over my mitten-hate already. Again...Cabela's. Great on-line shopping. Love the catalogs they send.

Cabelas.com check it.

My last two uniform jackets have been Karbons, and they have held up well. The first one I had for 5 years and the current one for 3. Some folks claim that they don't stay water resistant after they as washed, but I have not noticed that experienced that problem. My personal Jacket is a CB,much cheaper then a Karbon (ther is a CB outlet in Bennington). I have not warn this Jacket as much as the Karbons, but it seems to perform just as well.

Sparky, we're jacket twins. We use Karbon at Whiteface too and I have a jacket I bought at the CB outlet in Bennington many years ago that I still wear alot.
