Steamboat was $109 for the day, and if you wanted first tracks it was another $25.....that was pricey as well.
Although I do like the first tracks option on those powder days !

Didnt seem like anyone was complaining about it though.........

I know the prices are basically some calculation of operating cost and then some sort of profit margin but it sure seems difficult to calculate the value as a consumer.

Stowe, VT @ 500 acres = $92
Vail, CO @ 5,000 acres = $129
Les 3 Vallees, France @ 35,000 acres = $61

Have to say, I love Vail and my wife loves Beaver Creek, but this makes it hard to even think about going to either one of those places with a family of 4. Oh my.....

My wife and I just got back from CO last week. I booked at Copper because it was the only place I could find that had decent ticket deals. We had a great time. The of piste stuff was limited but given how thin the cover was I don't imagine the back bowls at the other resorts would have been worth the extra $$$.

I'm literally posting this from the mid mountain Eagles Nest lodge at Vail right now. Even before the foot (and counting still) of snow that fell overnight, the Back Bowls were in good shape, and have been all week - are there a few spots in the troughs of some isolated bumps in the bowls where you occasionally see some dirt or underbrush? Yup- but for an Eastern skier, its VERY GOOD cover ;)

Also, BTW they're now off their "high season" ticket rate and the walk up day ticket price is on the board as "only" $119! What a bargain!! Lol!

Loving the Epic 7 pass I bought back in August! Will have me at about $70 a day and so far just under 130k verts (with about 4 more hours of skiing left for me)

My 1st trip to Vail, NOT my last!!

ONE TWENTY NINE? That’s insanity! Bet in not too long we see $100 in the east, Stowe is already ninety two bucks.

You forgot to add the five dollar fee they charge for the actual ticket, Stowe = $97

Is stowe doing a EZpass/RFF Chip Ticket?? OR are they just finally catching on to the Music ticket scams of all the handling fees, Even when you pick them up yourself from box offices"total bullshit".. Such a scam on music tickets. some add 25% to 30% to you ticket price..just bought some FURTHUR tickets for Atlantic City in April and the handling fees are over 25%. cheapest 40 dollar ticket costs 52 with fees.

If it is the RFF Chipped Lift tickets that are slowly growing at some resorts. Some charge you a little extra for the intial ticket 2-5 dollars and after that just reuse it without the extra fees. Its some kind of card production fee or whatever they call it. Not sure been 2 years or so since Stowe run.

The Vail lift ticket buys you more than one at Les Trois Valleeys; specifically it buys you avalanche control, whereas not even Courchevel gets you that beyond the specific pistes. Also, in my experience d Le Cruex (essentially a big open bowl--one of the signature runs there) is much more crowded than any of the back bowl or Blue Sky runs at Vail. I'd argue this is because a much larger portion of Le Trois Vallees terrain isn't properly ridable.

I'd take France for the overall experience, but I think a day at Vail is worth an extra $68 from a "making turns" perspective (even if the lifts aren't as nice).

I didn't visit Copper last week, but Vail, Breck, and Keystone were all in great shape.

Actually we were there 2/17 to 2/20 and they were getting a small storm as we left. Just to clarify Copper was fine, the groomed trails had good coverage and we had a blast. The woods and the bowls were in need of some fresh is all. Glad you folks got yours at Vail, Breck, Keystone etc.

Plan early! Get their Epic 7 pass that they've been offering the last few years. The cut off for purchase is in early September, you get 7 days total (they don't have to be consecutive either) at any of their resorts (Vail, Beaver Creek, Breck, Keystone, Kirkwood, Northstar, Heavenly, and they just bought a few small places in Michigan too). Adult 7 day epic passes were $529 last year (just looked on the website and its posted as the same for next season too) and the kids price for the 7 day Epic pass was $249! They also have 4 day Epic Passes for $349! Much better than $129 at the window!

My family had a GREAT time out there last week - 5 days at Vail, 2 days at BC - 3 powder days, including Friday where by mid afternoon it was knee deep on me (i'm 6'3" and almost waist deep on my 7yr old 4' 6" son) out in Siberia Bowl! I didn't want to get on the plane yesterday to fly home!!
