Not sure of the environmental regs in PA, but I know that sometimes in VT, and area may "give back to nature" a trail or portion of a trail, if they have plans to cut something new/widen something, as often to create new acreage, they have to "give back" some acreage, especially if National Forest Service land is involved
Interesting but doubtful that could be a factor here as this short trail runs directly under a lift.

It’s really a non issue for skiers as it is only an alternate route about 20 yards long at the bottom of the mountain. It was just surprising to see all indications of it vanish.

I asked a patroller I shared a lift with about it and, oddly, she was not even aware of the change.

no they are not giving it back. Roundtop is on privately owned land and its a lift line and frankly not that interesting. It would take days less to make snow on that trail than upper gun barrel.

its not that I want the trail back or really care that its gone, its the point why they took it off the map.

Its currently open al natural but pretty beat to shit since they haven't blown any snow on it.

much of patrol at Roundtop is clueless to many things so this isn't surprising. There was definitely no chance any of them were "Scabs" in Park City LOL

The mold in the shower really is the responsibility of the tenants (it’s called bleach and basic cleaning before it gets to that point) everything else falls on vail

Wasn't owned by Vail then, but 30 years ago I lived in employee housing at Keystone. There were monthly inspections to make sure degenerate ski bums weren't trashing the units.

I got 3 runs in and then Rocket totally shit the bed...like sparks flying and it smells like fire. They're trying to aux motor everyone off but it keeps stopping like every 15 seconds. Glad I'm not stuck on it. Hopefully something else besides West Double will open.

So if anyone is planning on heading to Crotched in the next few days, be aware that you're probably just getting to ski beginner terrain and that's it. The lift ops were making comments like "hopefully we can get it fixed for the weekend" but they definitely sounded pretty worried about the severity of whatever happened.

They fired up the Valley Quad buuuuut...they had one trail closed for racing and the liftline trail closed for park build and the cut across trail was also closed for no reason whatsoever, so all you get there is two green trails that dump into a short blue. And then on the double, the fun looking natural terrain under the lift is also closed because VAIL FUCKING SUCKS so you get that really flat green to the right and the decent but very short blue to the left. There's no way to ski between the two chairs without climbing up and around the base lodge.

I split after 10 runs...fun doing a 3 hour round trip ride for like 4500 vert 🤣

Remember you are part of the problem giving them money…
Next you will buy a house near a pig farm and complain it stinks.
