I was not there today so can't speak from experience, but winds atop Washington were 100+ earlier so I don't doubt winds were tough. To your question specifically, I've felt this year Wildcat has been far too timid to get lifts online during these winds. Unfortunately not enough people left to complain... they're pulling only 3 rows of cars in the main lot the last 2 weekends.

At least some of the personal weather stations around there picked up some strong wind readings. Gusts >50mph and some sustained winds >40mph in the morning, and that's presumably near the base: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNHJACKS46

Does seem to have died down after noon, but I'm mildly sympathetic to not seeing a point in opening at 12:30pm if there's no one waiting around hoping for it.

as with much of the east, the late summer and fall were dry in PA. Roundtop is running low on snowmaking water. They have backup water source about a mile from the mountain. Several ponds to which they own the water rights. they need to rent a pump at $14k for a month to move the water. Broomfield says "no water for you"

I guess if there is no snow in the west we aren't allowed to have snow in the east...

Yeah im not sure on the pump cost to buy. They dont always need to use it and likely dont really have a need to buy said pump for other uses.

Its only in really dry years that they need this water source.

Again seems pennywise pound foolish but across the board revenue must be really down due to the snow drought out west

From what I'm seeing in Park City, assuming it's applicable elsewhere, I think they're getting hammered & I'm surprised the stock's not really headed down.
And Colorado is in even worse shape than Utah.

Having not seriously looked into the equity in a while, my WAG is that on a valuation basis perhaps people think it was already flushed.

Most likely it's not down because their revenue stream is mostly with EPIC pass sales. Now obviously the OTHER sources of revenue will be down, but that will not show up for a while......and may get drowned out by the income from those 2026-2027 season pass sales.

there is always some catch to skiing in PA. this year its the water. Blue Mountain can really crank snow, and had a real good stretch of perfect weather in December. first rumor - "we will be 100% open by Christmas (or New Year, doesnt really matter)" then "oh-oh, ponds are low"....had to cut back and wait for ponds to refresh. And yes, the ponds were low. i have never really seen them not full, even when making snow. They were really close to full open by new years anyways, and Camelback has done a 180 from last year, and was right there with Blue as far as open trails.

Big Boulder has the biggest fricken snowmaking pond ever. in fact, its a lake. its huge. do they have limitations? i dont know. but they have access to a ton of water. not fully open.

Jack Frost pulls from i think its the Lehigh River. again, endless water, kind of, not sure if they have limitaitons, but they continue to make snow at their own pace. which is slow and steady.

Where did you see the ponds are low at Blue? I was there the other day and the pond right by the tubing hill looked full and they were 100% open. Maybe they have a pump issue I don’t know but it’s not lack of water. CBK too, I’ve been impressed with the way they have and continue to pump out snow

The pass revenue is down ~2%, but it should be noted that's includes about 7% price increase, so in actuality it's back-of-the-envelope down closer to 10% net.
