Yeah, this season really has been a complete disaster. I feel so badly for the employees. Even though I am disappointed with the snow, I have still skied and I have made a point not to be an asshat to the employees. Just being nice has gone a long way. I have been very surprised by how friendly and helpful a lot of them have been in what has been a terrible season. The last time we had a bad season a lot of employees were really shit on and that trickled down to the guests. This year what I have been seeing has been a different tune--much to my surprise.

Didnt know that. Which means even if a ski instructor bumps lifts, they MUST wear the proper color coat.

The J1s have it better than most of the resort workers because their contract requires them to get at least 32 hours a week. But if theyre in a tipped position I’m sure the moneys not too good this season with the lack of people around.
Personally I don’t mind I’ve been busy with a new job and haven’t skied as much so selfishly am hoping this bad year plus last years strike and Sundance leaving makes PC a lot slower and cheaper next year.

All employees make a base rate of $20hr, so if tipped employees end up under that rate, Vail makes up the difference.

In all seriousness, that article is literally verbatim the WSJ interview. I find the timing very interesting--Rob comes out and reminds everyone about how he and Vail magically changed the industry more than a decade ago. I find it to be looking backwards rather than forwards. Yes, EPIC was a revolutionary idea, but that was more than a decade ago. Now sales are declining. It is time to evolve. Instead, Vail brings Rob back and he is reminiscing about how awesome he was. Seems very odd.

Next years passes just dropped today. Very similar to last years pricing wise, except that for the 13-30yr old age demographic they're dropping the price of the full Epic and Epic local by 20%

They're actually raising it for 13-17 for Local. Last year I paid $633 for the teen Local, the new price is $649. Not sure what the Teen full Epic was last year, but it is now $869.

Yep. Just saw that as well.

As for Epic, Vail Resorts is offering a 20-percent discount for Gen Z—skiers between 13 and 30 years old—for the 2026-'27 season. This drops the cost of the full Epic Pass to $869 from last year's $1,051 for that age group. Not too shabby.

They promised investors they'd raise prices in excess of inflation, which they did, but not by all that much, which speaks volumes IMHO.
