5 trails? Why?
The snow is likely too soft to get any real benefit from groomer use, and if anything can rapidly accelerate the snow loss with tiller use. Likely trying to preserve what snowpack they have up at the top for when the colder air filters back in mid week.

There are times when unless you're on the hill in soft condtions and have seen the "damage" a cat can do as the tracks at times can often just create fairly sizeable "pot holes" that the tiller can't smooth out, it can be really tough to appreciate how leaving some trails closed until you get for favorable temps for working the snow around, is the right call from an ops standpoint to make

Wildcat has also suffered from an inversion over the last few days, where it’s stayed much warmer at higher elevations. Several mornings it was 29-30 in the valley and 40+ depending on elevation.

Im at cannon now but patterns over the winter were more favorable and they just plain blow more snow. Make no mistake though the snowpack is getting nuked here as well. The freeze up is gonna be rough hopefully it comes with some of that dense march snow

I don't think natural trails are going to survive at most mountains after today honestly, regardless of location (or in regards to this thread - ownership). Lots of damage to manmade trails also.

I just happened upon the ski report on the local NH news. Everywhere they mentioned is doing just fine with most terrain available. Then, they bring up Wildcat with only 7 trails open, in an incredulous voice. Wildcat should be ashamed. Fix it Vail lol 😂

They‘ve thrown in the towel. Att is definitely in better shape.
But nothing compares to the rejuvenated Black.
Sweet day today 👍

I don't know who he is. Perhaps he should buy a bunch of stock and force change. Kinda surprised an activist investor hasnt tried that yet to be honest.

He's a billionaire in Park City who is trying his hardest to get Vail to sell the resort to him. He isn't having much success but it pulling all sorts of rich guy / good ol boy bs at the local level to try and force the issue. If memory serves he tried the hostile takeover but realized quickly he wasn't rich enough to pull that off and the rest of Vail shareholders were like nah we're good here.

Similar to Telluride, its basically a rich person local who has never heard the word no having a tough time coming to terms with someone telling them no.

Park City basically fell into Vails hands. I don’t see them giving that up anytime soon. BG you should crash that meeting and give us the scoop.😂. Of all Vails dominos I would think that would be one of the last to fall
IIRC Prince is in a fight with the City and other locals over his home building permit and used the anti-Vail sentiment to try to win favor with the City and locals. I also believe that he is the new owner of the Park Record which is the local newspaper. The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend….
