Not THE skiDiva.
One of the women on Ski Diva, from Maine. In fact I think she may be a member here too. IIRC her husband works at this mill.

Long time reader/lurker here, finally joining, to respond to this.

The gunman, a disgruntled ex-employee (fired last fall, with good reason) entered the facility at around 9 a.m. and took the facility manager hostage. The response was immediate and full-on, with Tactical unit on the scene. Facility, as well as all regional schools, went on lock-down shortly thereafter.

The chaos was immediate, as this plant is a hub of incoming/outgoing trucks. Incoming trucks were backed up for half a mile - and eventually turned back, as the restricted zone was expanded throughout the day.

Hostage released unharmed at 4:30, and gunman gave himself up to state authorities at 6:30. Meanwhile, second shift production workers had been notified to be on-call only, so my husband was in meeting at the time regarding shutting down the entire facility’s production (unprecedented, in 50 years of operation), in rapid phases. Fortunately, this did not have to happen.

I don’t expect to see much of him for the next 2 days, as they unravel the knots of fall-out that this disruption created. And, obviously, there will be an intense change in security measures instituted ASAP.

But no one was harmed, and the gunman is in custody. That’s the bottom line. Too bad 1,000 others will now have to be on a fast-moving treadmill for the next couple of days as a result of the production/delivery issues that ensued.

p.s. We are die-hard, dedicated Sugarloafers, since 2000 (when we moved here) - and perhaps can provide some regular info and input therein?

Ski Diva, originally from the SR webpages, went out west to ski...has been back in the area for a season or two I think. Fast skiing divas often lead, shall we say...less than boring lives....one way or another...

I guess the way I typed it, it could be interpreted as, "One of the Ski Diva's many husbands"....
Funny how punctuation and terminology can create different meanings.

that is nice that SKI DIVA has many husbands, I always believed that turn about is fair play:snow::lol::lol:
