If we'd get decent weather on the weekend I'd go again. I have a friend willing to drive up but with the forecast both last weekend & this weekend I'm out. Sunday looks like a decent day but it's mothers day & I have other obligations. Maybe it will work out next weekend? Yesterday & today would have been perfect but no lifts are spinning.

Just got back to Boulder, skied a half day with my Son, A Basin got about 3" more overnight. Funny thing, the place was mobbed today, it wasn't yesterday, must be a lot of people couldn't make it due to Mother's day. They must have all played hookie today. Dropped my first ever cornice today, what a rush, looks a lot worse than it is, basically hit it at an angle, drop a few feet, and ski on as normal. Didn't take any pics today, but the Sun was out most of the morning, no vertigo today! I'm going to ski solo the next few days, I'll be sure to take some pics. Should be less crowded tomorrow. They did get snow on the other side of the divide last night. Somewhere called four corners got 29". I'm so grateful for the timing of my trip, I expected to be skiing corn snow, not fresh powder, no complaints here.

No doubt, I heard on one of the news shows this is the most snow they've had this late in the season in 10 yrs. Now the cold air comes in, 14° in Keystone now. What will the temp at the summit at A Basin be this morning, 4°? It is supposed to be windy too, what will the wind chill values be, -20°? Luckily I brought all, well almost all, my Winter gear, plenty of layers, mittens with liners, balaclava, Mad Bomber hat. The only thing I didn't bring that I should have is a neoprene facemask I use in conjunction with the balaclava when it's really cold. On the bright side, if they sell them in the shop, they should be half off.

I thought enough to buy sunblock, I even considered putting some on yesterday morning, I didn't apply any to my face, the forecast called for cloudy with snow showers. I used a gas station bathroom in Boulder, when I went to wash my hands I saw Rudolph staring back at me in the mirror.

We only skied from 9:30-12:30, the last hour of which was overcast. Just goes to show how brutal the combination of high Spring Sun, and thin high air can be. Not supposed to be sunny today either, and with the cold, I probably won't be exposing any ski, I'm still going to put sunblock on anyway.

Oh yeah, this area is so cool, I saw a herd of about 10 long horn sheep traveling right along the edge of I70 on my way back to Keystone this evening. It took me a second to realize what the Hell they were. They were probably 50ft away from me as I passed.

Thanks, I like the show, but I guess I haven't watched it enough to know this. I thought it was funny when the vet informed me Spaceman wasn't his full name.

How so you watch 30 Rock and not know the Dr. Spaceman reference? It's actually pronounced Spa-chem-in

Guess I haven't watched it enough, is Dr Spaceman on every episode? Drain bramage from booze and weed? I'm gonna miss the little guy, going home to an empty cat house, and a full litter box.

As said...Electricity Bills + Heating Bills. Majority of skiers in the East have always accepted these prices by visiting the overpriced areas = promote expansion = promote higher pricing.

Terrific stuff Cornhead/skiNEwhere....nice to see.
Just getting more anticipated water is good enough..

At least you didn't make the same mistake I made when I went out in April. I barely had enough warm clothes because I was packing for spring skiing. I ended up wearing almost ALL of my clothes the whole time!

I think the sheeps are "resident" there. I've seen them too. All the out of state tourists stopped their cars on the shoulder and got out to take photo of them... (myself included, I think I still have the picture)

Finally arrived in Binghamton at 1 PM EST, left Denver at 1:15 AM MST, the only sleep I had in 36 hrs was what little I got on the planes. To top it off, I'm on my lay over in Charlotte, when a tornado warning pops up on my phone, I guess one hit nearby. Flight delayed, missed my connecting flight in Philly. I did stay a little longer than necessary on the crapper in Charlotte, tile walls, and a stainless steel box seemed like a pretty safe place to be if a twister were to hit the airport. I was actually more comfortable on the throne with my phone than I was at the gate.

When I finally arrived home, the sight of Spaceman's house, toys, and bowls made me feel a little sad, the litter box, not so much. Back to showing my old cats some love.
