i registered for that vermont.gov link and got an email basically saying they are inundated with volunteers and they will reach out if/when they need me/out of staters.

this weekend looks like it may be really bad with active flooding again. next weekend i cant go away, my gf has a trip and im on cat duty. im sure the need for help will be ongoing and i plan to make myself useful in august i guess

Water levels have come down a lot since Monday night/Tuesday, so while not good that multiple inches of rain could fall over places hard hit in the coming days, there is some place for it to go. Mudslides might be the bigger potential risk if a susceptible area gets hit with a slow moving t-storm and a quick few inches of rain.

Also saw this morning via a social media post that a friend of mine, who lives full time not too far South of Londonderry, posted that a portion of route 30, between where 100 breaks off and the Stratton Access Road will be closed for a few days due to some noted potential shifting of a bridge support beam

in fairness, not just a vail thing. sugarbush let a regularly scheduled marketing email rip this week without a mention of the storm. a lot of that shit is automated and was set to run and its more of an oversight.

stratton sent an email that acknolwedged the event, provided a donation link, but encouraged people to come on up for summer fun.

bolton sent an email saying they were mostly unaffected and that the high ground trails are in ok shape. acknowledged the storm, struck the right tone.

Loudon isn't even close to anything that flooded.

The bigger question is will the SRX race at Thunder Road go on? ESPN televised race and perhaps the biggest series to ever stop there. But from the sounds of it Barre is almost as fucked as Montpelier so that could be very tough to get people in.
Looks like Thunder Road pulled the plug on SRX and they are running it at Stafford 2 weeks in a row. Too bad as it was a huge ass event for the track with some of the biggest names to have ever raced NASCAR, Indycar, and other motorsports.

Eh? Sugarbush definitely mentioned the event in their 7/12 e-mail.

There was another e-mail on 7/12 later in the day that just talked about deals in general for both winter and summer and made no mention of the storm, but they had at least acknowledged it by that point and didn't explicitly say "it is beautiful here now and going to be Sunny and great this weekend" like Stowe's e-mail did...

Stowe on the other hand was as if nothing at all happened. They did issue an apology about 45 minutes ago though...

One of my friends from the MRV, who stayed dry this time but who was hammered by Irene, posted a reminder that recovery will be a long process for many people, and help with be even more important weeks or more from now, when the images aren't all over the media and people aren't thinking about it.

VT got hammered again tonight. Another 1-2" of rain (thankfully, the heaviest amounts were in the flats west of the greens near Middlebury/the NY line) and tornado warnings. Very heavy thunderstorms moving across northern New England still. We can't catch a break.

Farmers getting wiped out. Had time to check out more...Tornado never good to hear. This is a very messed up weather patern. Hope it breaks soon. Jet stream needs to flatten out???
Best of luck to any of you getting hit.

I was at SRX at Stafford tonight when they announced it. Too bad for Vermont but understandable at the same time, and at least they already promised Thunder Road a date next year.

Naturally the race tonight got cut short by tonight's line of storms.

We're in the type of weather pattern with the Greenland Block helping direct system after system at the Northeast that we'd LOVE during ski season! Freaking sucks when this pattern sets up and stays for a while in the Summer!!!

right. 8" liquid in 48 hours would be a blockbuster historic snow storm. like half a recent shitty seasons worth of snow in one shot.

More significant flooding in the NEK last night. Those planning on going to the Kingdom Trails had better confirm that where you are going is open and accessible.

Alton, NH got hit bad yesterday too. 6" of rain. Hit just East of where our marina is. Had the marina seen the floods they got just five miles east, no telling how many of the 300+ boats there would have gotten destroyed

Richmond and Bolton got something like 1.5" in an hour last night. Road crews have their work cut out for them.

Unlike Irene this keeps coming. The high temps in the southeast are in the 120's. On CNN yesterday pavement hitting 150F.

Heat builds on itself, just like cold. It's easier to see cold - snow depth, ice. This needs to break.
