There has got to be a better explanation. WTF they always open with Conifer. I'm a century pass holder but will gladly drive to jiminy if Wa's summit quad is not running. I'm not skiing those crap trails.
There maybe an issue with the state and the summit road staying open till Thanksgiving...

Summit road goes across Minuteman too... I doubt that's the problem as they almost always start snowmaking on Conifer before Thanksgiving.

Agree 100%....but don't tell too many people. I like it empty.

As for the summit trails. People people....this is an early opening for Wa. It takes some dedicated snowmaiking to fill that gap over the road! If you ever did the spring cleanup, you'd know.

So maybe after Thanksgiving, Connie will be available.

I was actually happy last year when the Minuteman quad was down. They put more effort into making snow off the polar express. That was the earliest I remember Smith Walton being open.

But it's cool that they're opening early this year. I might shoot up Monday before work.

What is the deal with their website loading so painfully slowly? What happened to the web cam, and why aren't they trying to open conifer?

Gaaaahhh.

So irritated and worried that Jiminy will have rotten conditions saturday...

There's gotta be something wrong with the lift or a pipe up on Conifer... there's no other reason they wouldn't start there. It's a quick trail to cover (only 500 feet longer than Ralph's and not as wide) and I can't remember an opening day when it wasn't one of the trails (or in a couple cases, the only trail). And Ralph's is never up on opening day... sometimes it's almost a week or two before it comes online. Something's going on... I wish they'd spit out some info.

Also, are they ever gonna fix the site? Couldn't even get on yesterday, took 5 minutes today. No webcam anywhere (took me 2 minutes just to find the link buried 5 pages deep), vague snow report. Not normal for them at all.

The new site blows. It looks nice, but it's crap from a usability standpoint. The fact that it's slowed to a crawl makes it that much worse.

Just shot them an E-mail asking about the webcam, Conifer, and prices this weekend. Forgot to mention the slow site. They're usually good about responding quick so hopefully I'll have some answers tomorrow.

Thought it was just me but I find Wachusett's new website very user-unfriendly. Forget it being slow, you can't find anything on it. They paid some web designer good money for this most likely and got shafted.

I ordered my pass today and it took two tries and 10 minutes. I received a good confirmation e-mail so I'm guessing the order went through OK...

I ordered mine a few weeks ago, but it crapped out on me in the final step. I had to call to confirm that it went through.

Just relized Wachusett will tie for the 3rd ski area to open in NE this year, bested only by Sunday River and Killington.
