I ordered a crashpad from MegaSpot in August 2003 and still have not seen it in January 2004. They have an automated e-mail server and and never answer the phone so they do not have to deal with their customers. I have only spoken with one employee on a total of three occasions.

When I contacted "Travis" today, he pretended that he had never heard of MegaSpot and that he had never talked to me before. It was definately the same person, though, as his voice is a unique and unmistakeable one.

It is obvious that I will never see my $125 again, but I felt it was my duty to save others from throwing away their money.

DO NOT BUY FROM MEGASPOT ! ! !

Sorry to hear about your experience, Varian, but welcome to the boards!

Maybe contact the Better Business Bureau?

A quick search on Froogle (http://froogle.google.com) shows that a Crashpad is either a soft mountaineering landing pad, a CD by the musical group Spoiler, or padding attached to underwear (serves the same protective purpose as the first).

The Better Business Bureau gives MegaSpot of Monroe, Texas an Unsatisfactory review. The BBB ranks businesses either satisfactory or unsatisfactory based on the past three years.

It is un-fair to simply go by what one customer say's. For example, this certain customers credit card was no good. He was charged an extra $25.00 and his order was not shipped until he paid for the product in full. Then he made several rude phone calls and e-mails. We do not put up with that from any customer. There's to much fraud on the internet to take such chances with those types of customers. Be it as it may, we have been manufacturing crash pads since 1988 here at Hueco Tanks in El Paso, Texas and have never had any problems before. We are listed in all the magazines and Climbing 2004 Gear Guide as being one of the more popular crash pads on the market. I know exactly who this guy is and why we did not send him a crash pad. Fact is he's just up-set at us and wants to lash out against us in anyway he can. If you would like more information on our products, please visit our website and or call us anytime to get an estimate on a mail order shipment. We will only make one statement against this action. We will not fight with forum members. We just want to simply state "We don't agree with this guys post at all".

Hey, why don't you guys take this bitching somewhere else. This is not terribly interesting. One guy thinks he's ripped off so he gets on a board for the sole purpose of lashing out, the company responds and plugs its wares.

Actually, the company responded and made a case for why the original posted may or may not be incorrect.

Point is that there are two sides to every story. I'm personally impressed that the company went out of it's way to defend it's name by coming here. I hope they continue to participate.

In the meantime, there's nothing more to be said so, first my stamp:

And a lock.
