Was thinking about going skiing this weekend but weather looks too warm.

Awesome inversion up at Waterville today. Thick fog entire ride up 93 and didn't see blue sky until I took the left up the access rd. Once on the mtn it was bright sunshine all AM. I got some great pics looking SE from up near the Schwendi Hutte.
Mtn was all locked up between 8-9 and I wasn't really enjoyng the frozen wet groomed snow but once it softened up it was a lot of fun.

Very sad weather. +9C up at Jay. This is freakishingly hot weather for mid January. Snow is disappearing incredibly fast. Went from nearly perfect conditions to this within one week.

I wouldnt think a few days of that would lead to too much carnage from a bloodbath perspective. MRG did post a little while ago that they may have to close some trails down because of this, but I havent seen any other mountain updates.

Jay was at 76 out of 77 on Friday. I bet the count will be around 55 tomorrow with most of the glades closed.

Definitely a blow torch here in central NH. I would estimate we've lost 70% of our snow pack where I live. Obviously, less than that in the mountains. But it seems like enough loss to shut down many natural snow trails at most mountains.

Except for the fog and absence of bikinis, it was spring skiing.

Looks like MRG's snowpack took a huge hit. Their FB page mentioned possible suspension of ops tomorrow.=(

It's seriously THAT bad? Given it didnt get nearly as warm as they were saying it could have (low 50s), I was thinking we were A-Okay.

I think many areas saw a ~50* overnight fog. Horrible event for an otherwise great start to the season. Sugarbush was melting Saturday and Okemo went from 100% open to closing all glades and roping many trails today. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the spring conditions this weekend, it certainly came at a huge cost to man made and natural snow coverage.

I spent the weekend up at Stowe... Mountain staff said they lost about a foot of base on Saturday night alone. I had a t-shirt on under a wind-breaker during the day on Sunday and was fine.

Things aren't totally melted out at Stowe or anything, but they sure lost a lot of coverage. A lot of bump troughs on Chin Clip were down to grass. I didn't venture onto too many other bump runs Sunday because the snow in there was super sticky.

Was at Jay today and the upper (and middle) front of the mountain under the tram was a mess and coming down from the Tram was getting rather thin as well. The glades were okay but there were bare spots. By mid day in the glades the parts that still had enough snow on them were like Sierra cement and were not much fun.

Only had fog Saturday at Burke. Sunday at Jay started out almost bluebird but then turned cloudy but not foggy.

Magic lost a good amount of snow as well though lower on the moubtain fared better. At 1:00 yesterday we had 62 degrees at the top and 46 at the base...

I was at Burke Saturday as well. I didn't get in nearly as many runs in as I was hoping (three runs between 10:30 and 12:15 using the Willoughby Chair. 4 runs between 3:10 and 4:00 using the Mid-Burke chair). The fog was crazy thick in the morning. Going down Dippers was an adventure since it was hard to see more than 30 feet in a couple places. The late afternoon runs only had a short band of fog near the summit.

Yes it sucked that the Mid-burke Chair was down. It was my wife's first time there since it was installed and I had been singing its praise. then the damn thing goes down for 2 hours.
