if white face got a foot stowe is going to have more because the moisture the storm picks up off the lake and when i slams in the backside of mani it drops its load. upslope is cool.
I often drive right by WF to N VT for this same reason

Six hours would be nothing, but Mansfield is 3 hours....if Placid was say 4.5 hours, I'd be a bit more tempted.
I spend 6 hours a day in a car for work....over 50K miles per year just for work, last thing I want to be doing is spending more time than I need to to get to great areas like Stowe, Sugarbush, et al

plus isn't going east to west and vice versa a pain in the ass.
how do you drive by whiteface? are you comming from the north?
Yeah because I like to post on here. I would have to be given a large sum of money to go a month without posting on AlpineZone...definitely more than a thousand.
Well put me down for the first $50. Now if we can just get 19 more investors we can be rid of you for a month. Come to think of it, you might make a nice second income having people pay you not to post in their forum.
BTW, Austin the $1,000 quote would go nicely with the rest of your GSS collection.
Great idea. Same end of march weekend you came last year. Slides, new terrain on Lookout Mountain, plus the Apple Butter mogul competition. Now is that a weekend the C.L.I.T.S. could love or what?
Will that Apple Butter comp most likely be on 3/29? As long as it doesn't conflict with the Sundown comp on 3/22, I'm down.
I don't think it's set yet. I'll find out.
Brilliant! Sounds like a great plan. I'm definitely in.
Now we just need to convince the eastern New England skeptics who say they want to ski WF but claim it's too difficult to drive past all the good terrain in NH & VT to go to WF. I don't necessarily blame them for their viewpoint but nevertheless, at some point you've gotta sack up & experience WF at least once. Don't you agree?
Especially if the Slides are open. Apart from Mt. Washington, I don't imagine there's anything similar terrain wise in New England. I'm sure I'll get an argument from Mansfield loyalists about the backcountry there but to be a complete Eastern skier, shouldn't one experience it all, especially the Slides?
Cool. The only problem I see is you WF guys getting all whiny when a bunch of hack-job CLITS from Sundown come up to the mighty Whiteface and school your asses in your little bump comp.
Cripes. Sure sounds like HPD was serving you the Whiteface Kool-Aid between beers last April...

I was thinkin we could score a team comp. as well. C.L.I.T.S. v ADKs. If we don't have enough ADKs from AZ, I'll fill my team in with some of my fellow Mt. Hosts. As everyone knows we're all a bunch of old guys who can't really ski so we'll be easy pickins for you guys.
There's a big hole in your logic, with Mad there is no time in between him drinking beers. It's one after the other.
Didn't Brian have a term for you guys. Anyway, a throwdown in the bump comp sounds good to me. Whiteface vs. Sundown. Talk about David and Goliath...
Yes that sounds like a great idea. You guys stay down on the lower hill with the bumps:roll: I will be up top in the slides, every year there was the apple contest the slides have been open.
Just a thought if you are coming up here to check out the hill. A bump is a bump. I would think you would be better served traveling around the hill checking everything out. It will take more than a day to see everything up here so why would you waste time in a bump contest. You will experience bumps and it wont take a judge to figure out whos gots it and whos dont.

You make some good points. HPD brought up the comp...
Last year I was done with my 2 runs before the Slides opened, but yeah, if you're only there that one weekend you might not want to take the chance of missing Slides time. I just know how much you guys love bumps.
You really should make it a 3 day weekend.

If Whiteface weren't great, do you really think it would have hosted the Olympics? Even if it weren't great, just the fact that it hosted the Olympics is a reason to ski there. You've already been to Stowe and Sugarbush so why not try a new ski area that for all you know, could be equally as great as Stowe.
Ditto yours WD....Crap @ my age i'm happy to be friggin alive and will ski with anyone and be HONORED to do so![]()
