What brought you here?

What was the main reason you initially joined AZ?

I joined to try to get a better handle on ski conditions, real-time. That was simply it.

It was only after some time that I recognized that I was not alone in my skiing obsession and fanaticism. It's nice to have others of like mind, and that includes the whining, which I don't mind at all. While we may take our fanaticism seriously, I enjoy the banter, the joking and teasing as well. It's like most people "get it."


Now, at my age, I don't think I'll every relate to all forms of social media. But for me, AZ seems to work, so I'm sticking with it (much to your disappointment!)

Very similar route for me. I was googling mountain reviews and stumbled on AZ. I lurked briefly (a month or so), before asking a question as my first post.

Google, then realized this was a northeast ski forum. Joined to lurk and learn from the others on the forum. The community aspect of the site is also a bonus.

Found the Sunday River board first and somehow from there found this place. The draw is to talk about skiing. Very few of my 'real life' friends are into the sport.

A link from another forum. I liked (and continue) this forum because it's more "local" than the other ski boards. I really like the TR's that are based out of the northeast.

Pretty sure it was a cross reference on KZONE, I was looking for advice at getting back into skiing (equipment for self, and newbie kids, etc on KZONE). Who knew skiing would become the obsession it has-- luckily wife is now hooked so I may not have to sleep on the couch every night.

I was searching for some skiing related sites when I got back into the sport a few years back. I originally did a lot of lurking and some posting on Epic, but ultimately switched over to here the following season after some urging from my wife who was already a member here.
