When I was a kid I loved playing in the snow and sledding. Then I skiied from about 8 years old until 16. From 16 until a few years ago when I got back into skiing I was just cold and couldn't wait for it to end though I did enjoy when it snowed, I liked how it looked. Now I can't wait for it to start and don't want it to end.

I had to start walking... then running and as soon as i thought i had it all figured out, some skis were strapped to my feet at Owl's Head in the eastern townships. 3 seasons after, i got my first season's pass at Jay Peak at the age of 6. Haven't stopped since... except that i ditched the extra board at the age of 9...

Ice skating, pond hockey, tobogganing, and sledding were my transitional drugs.

I was an every-weekender from 5th grade onwards.

Early days were outdoors sledding and snow-forts. Pre-teens and teens were spent play B-Ball (not allowed to ski under the penalty of death). Drank my way through college. Worked like a dog until my late 30's and then moved to Maine. The first winter in Maine the wife outfitted the family and off we went to Big Squaw after a big Thanksgiving storm. Day one was miserable. Yard saled every time getting off the Big Squaw mid-station. Those who have skied BS will understand. The mid station ramp would be a trail at many places. I cashed more times then I could count on a the trail. At this point I was think this was the stupidest thing I had very done. We stayed over that night to ski on Sunday (after copious amounts of pain killers). On Sunday, I made it down ramp and skied the entire trial. I have been hooked ever since.

I started skiing at age 20. As a kid, I did the usual sledding and whatnot. As a teenager, I really don't remember doing much of anything all that exciting in the winter. Probably played a lot of guitar.
