my wife married a ski nut. she accepted it.
she would call me to tell me all the events each night, but she would never ask me to come home. she would call me to find out what to do about the leaky ceiling. as for the other things you mentionded, my wife knows they are not good enough reasons.

This sounds like my wife.

She will call and give me details of all the day's events, and she might vent a bit, but she wouldn't ask me to come home.

If she did and I gave her the story I posted earlier in this thread, she would accept it even though she probably knows it's a story.

And to be fair and honest, if I told her that story and she still asked me to come home, then I'd know it was a real emergency and I'd be on the road home ASAP.

I would head home right away. There are plenty of ski day but you only have one spouse.

I believe the term you all are looking for is significant other

Original Premise: The forecast couldn’t be better, in 5 hours it’s suppose to start puking snow. By morning the snow is suppose to stop, giving way to sunny skis, no wind and 30 degree temps for the next 3 days. Plenty???? This isn't exactly like going up to Gunstock for the afternoon...
