What have you gained from skiing?

Some of them are on match.com One thing about skiing is that I've gained patience on the road. Some of my friends and relatives bitch and moan about a 3 hour drive to Maryland or 2 hours to Atlantic City and for me driving 7 hours to Stowe or 5 hours to Rut-Vegas/K-Mart-ville seems like going to the mall. Considering I drove 2300 miles to Montana simply to ski.

- A love for the outdoors / mountains
- A love for winter time
- A hobby / skill
- Exercise
- something to do while surfing the net (AZ etc)
- A home near a bunch of ski areas
- Something to argue about with the wife
- An expense
- A skill I can teach my kid
- Lots of great memories / great people
- A "home" mountain
- An interest in watching the weather
- A desire to visit places that I've never been

Thats all I got right now.

wow 7 hours i make it in about 6. when i went to mt snow this year i couldn't belive how close it was. 6 hours to me is most likely 2 hours to a normal person. plus when i am chasing snow time just flies by.

Skiing brings us to ski forums, and I've made quite a few friends from first getting to know them in ski forums.

Oh Ya mean :
-after 2 broken wrists?
- after my wife's emergency surgury several staes from home requiring steel plate and screws in the ankle ? medical bills PT bills etc
_after purchasing beaucoup thousand $$$ in skis , boots , clothes , carriers , bags , helmets and assorted other ski crap
-after spending $$ for cars , hotels, condos air fare etc

Aftere answering too freaking many questions from friensds like what teh hell are ya doing ?? R U crazy at your age ?

RESULTS:--------------------FARKIN PRICELESS ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great times making memories with family , grandkids and great ski buddies

good health except for teh speed bumps mentioned above

Iconoclastic behavior that outrages my age group

Awesome travel and adventure

A lifetime of winter enjoyment since I took up the sport as a teenager
A love of winter and cold weather in general

An ability to see things I'd never get to see otherwise
A lot of friends I never would have made
A closet full of old skis, old boots, old gloves, etc.
A condo in Vermont I wouldn't have had had I never skied that I now call home
