I did drive over 500 miles though from Oceanside, Ca (i think it took about 8 hours) to Squaw Valley, CA on a Friday night so that I could ski all of Saturday and a half day Sunday since I had never been to Squaw and they had free skiing for Active Duty Military.

During the great 7 foot dump at Hunter I skied thursday and Friday, with great difficulty on 84 wide skis, drove the 170 miles back to work on Saturday and pick up my new wide skis, then drove right back up there for Sunday, Monday...that was fun..If you want some real fun, fly into Calgary and make the 3.5 hour drive on the trans Canada hwy to Panorama or Kicking Horse..it will be just you and huge logging trucks going 70 mph in front and behind you...some good Canadian whisky will be required after...
