Originally, Sundown was my home mountain, but I've recently adopted Mohawk instead. Favorite trail there is Arrowhead, but I really like doing the bottom half of Route 100 as well. (Can't do the top half of that one yet...it's a black diamond and a bit steep and icy for me on the top...)

The nose dive was one of my favorites then would swing over to national to have some fun in the woods.
Now I dont have a home mountain but hope to find one soon. Wachusett has been fun with the kds, but i need a bit more vert to enjoy myself.

Upper Ravine @ Cannon. It's like a race track for skiiers. Lot's of corners to bank off of and lots of places to catch air. I swear I could do that run all day. I was screaming down that run a few years ago and screamed myself right off the side of the mountain and into the woods. Straight down. Took me a good 10 minutes to get my skis off and hike back up. At that point my mate was coming back up to find me and all he saw were my skis coming up over the side one by one. Thought I was gonna die!
For challenge I like Hardscrable. I remember the first time I went down it complaining all the way. Now I can't get enough of it. Icy mess that it can be!

You all have probably figured out how much I like Cannon and I keep hearing lift ticket prices discussed here. Did you all know that a weekend lift tic @ Cannon is only $45.00 and on Tuesdays and Thurdays 2 fer 1. $20.00 each. How can you beat that price! Okay, this is a secret for only us. I love it when people say how much they hate Cannon and how cold a mountain it is. Yeah, don't go there it's a terrible place. Terrible. Shhhhh!

Ski Ward is technically my home hill, but I've never even been and consider Wachusett my home hill. I'm gonna go with upper 10th to lower smith walton.

Favorite Trails??

Thanks for the bump, Dave. It was necessary to start thinking about this subject again now that we are on the eve of another great (hopefully) season.

Since my home mtn is Sugarbush (and MRG), my favorites are Paradise (at both mtns), Middle Earth, Rumble, Fall Line (MRG) and Exterminator, plus the other trails that are not on the map and are not to be publicly spoken of (on internet forums anyway).

This is such a great topic, and is so open to personal preference, that I welcome arguments and dissents from the views expressed above. What are your favorites?? Please chime in with your opinions.

Great thread!

Waterville is my home...

I like Upper and Lower Bobby's Run; starts as a nicely pitched groomer, then the lower end is quite steep and (at least last season) ungroomed, so there are (for me and my 42 year old legs) some challenging bumps.

This year the home is going to be Smuggs. I would say that Liftline and Freefall are my fav inbounds stuff.

In years past, the Bush has been my home but cashflow issues and really high pass prices prevented me from skiing there this year. There I would have to say the Mall, Liftline, Rumble, and Morningstar are my fav inbounds stuff.

Hunter - I love doing The Cliff to Racers Edge on the front face.. Usually my first and last runs of the day I do that combo...

On the westside of Hunter - I love Claires Way...

Well, I was deemed homeless on the "home mountain" thread, but I would say that my favorite trail at my former home mountain (Gore) was Rumor, except I probably liked Double Barrell better the rare times it was open while I was there. At this point, I'd say I probably go to Sugarbush as much as any other place in the east, so if I were hypothetically to call that a home, my favorite trail there is Paradise.

Skiing solo is much different than with a family. Favorite trails at Sugarbush when I ski with my 6 and 9 year old sons are off the Inverness chair. Walt’s Trail is a long ego boosting green, Semi Tough adds some challenge and fun terrain and Brambles starts you off in well spaced trees with a nice steep ending. Best part is that 80% of the time there is no one else on these trails!

I don't really have a home mountain but two places I ski fairly often would be Upper & Lower FIS at Sugarbush (despite the slog back to the base) and Goniff Glade at Magic.

Well, I honestly don't know my "home" mountain since I only based my pass purchase on price and drivetime from NYC, but over the last few years, it would be....

Solitude, UT: Cathederal Bowl. The hike is just long enough that people don't want to do it and just easy enough that I am willing to. Incredible turns.

Sunday River, ME: I love, love, love Airglow to Black Hole on Aurora Peak.

Skyway at Sunapee is one of my favorites- wide, just long enough, great snow, little traffic, nice big rollers, and fast. For flat out cruising, it's great. Followed by Sundance for a few bumps, if I'm up for it, and it's one-stop shopping.
