if you want to over night it, i'll offer up my couch for crash space if you are interested. normally i don't do mid-week, but i will have free mid-weeks at burke, so keep me posted if you come up for a friday! should be an hour and thirty after WRJ, so you are looking at four hours each way.
Well, after the way you and trailboss (and many others admittedly) talk up Burke, it should be worth a 4 hour drive, no? ;) I have no problem with 5 am departures...

Not major priorities on my list, but wouldn't mind hitting MRG or Whiteface.

Sort of pseudo-Northern Vermont, but Sugarbush is a must. Tons of great terrain for all abilities, albeit a bit heavy on the expert side, at least at South.

With regards to Sugarbush, not much for beginners, but some nice runs for intermediates. Some of my favorite runs have been:

Jester/Snowball/Springfling
Lower Jester
Rim Run
All the intermediate runs off of North Lynx

Here's my list:

• Burke -- have to see if it's worth the buzz. I'd love the VIP tour, too!
• Cannon -- close enough to Burke, so why not?
• Sunday River -- don't know if I'll make it to Maine. It's a bit of a drive for me.
• Bromley -- last skied there in the 70's, so it's like I've never been there. Hear it's fun, though. Plus they have good mid-week rates (at least they did this year).

Any area, I did not get out once last season.

There really is not any area's I would want to try out.

I will probably be at Snow in Feb.

My wish list of new areas this year are:

Burke - a perennial that I've been trying to visit. Perhaps this is the year.
Subarbush - the rave reviews here have me wanting to visit.
Cannon
Berkshire East

New Place to ski?

Whether or not I manage to sell me house and move to SLC, I will be skiing in UT at some point. One of the mountains I haven't had a chance to try is POWDER MOUNTAIN, and I will include it in my next trip. It has a reputation for deep Powder and no grooming. Can't wait.

If I do move west I plan to make a little "ski camping" trip involving Jackson Hole, Big Sky, and Sun Valley. Another "loop" will involve Brianhead, Telluride, and Durango Mt. Resort (Purgatory). That should bring my total ski areas visited to somewhere over 60.

(This was my northeast-to-ski list for last season, too. But since last season was not a good one for me getting out, this list carries over to this year…)

Here's my list:

Burke
Magic
Jay
Smuggs
Bolton
Cannon
Bromley

I've been to Jay and Cannon but it was many years ago. I would love to get the cook's tour of Burke from Riverc0il and Trailboss. It sounds like many people on this thread want to try Burke and get the locals' tour.

That sounds like the basis for an AZ outing at Burke. Anyone disagree?

Not at all. There was small Burke AZ gathering in 2005. Time for a repeat. I still gotta get up there; that may be a good excuse.

New Place to ski? Pt. II

Already stated my Western goals. In the East, I would like to try Cannon (never been) since I have a cousin living a few minutes away. Also, I have never skied Sugarloaf and would like to try it. Maybe I can make a loop to include Sunday River (been there) and Wildcat (never been).

If you decide to head up and you want someone to share the driving duties I might be able to help you out... ;)

Here's my list from last year:
  • Jiminy
  • Butternut
  • Hunter
  • Burke
  • Wildcat
I made it to Butternut and Hunter so I can mark them off, although I'd like to return to both.

So this would be my list for this year:

  • Jiminy
  • Burke
  • Wildcat
  • Sugarbush
  • Jay
I've technically been to Sugarbush, but only to north. There's plenty of other places I haven't been and would love to try, but I don't to use up too much space. ;)

I guess I really should get to the 'Bush. Yes. That's right. Never been. (I seem to get pulled up the road to MRG.)

In the West, Pajarito

I drove by Pajarito a few years ago on my way from albe. to taos, it looks really cool. Stopped at the base and got a trail map. I'd love to try that some day too!

You headed to NM?
