Hey All,

It's another late summer day and I'm day dreaming about skiing. I was thinking what my ideal ski day would be snow conditions wise along with terrain. It would be nearly impossible to have a day like this but just for shitz and giggles I thought I would come up with my perfect ski day..

30% Wide open 18-20 inches of light powder. It's awesome to ski powder in wide-open terrain..straightlining and make huge Alaska style turns..I've skied knee deep powder, thigh deep, waist deep, and even nipple deep in Montana...but I feel that 18-20 inches of light and dry 3-4% powder is the best..you get alot of speed..some face shots..but you aren't choking on the snow or going slow like in 3-4 feet.

30% Tree skiing with that same 18-20 inches of powder..sure skiing wide open bowls and faces in powder is the bomb deezy but there's nothing like skiing deep powder in the woods..with a nice rhythem..and sometimes stopping to look back at your tracks and pinch yourself to make sure it's not a dream. Getting air off ledges into a pillow landing with snow sloughing like a waterfall..A-F-ing-mazing..

20% wide open long groomers similar to Gros Ventre and Sundance at Jackson Hole...Flying down in a tuck..or making huge Super G turns getting low..laying perfect arcs..on still All mountain or race stock GS skis..beautiful..going fast enough that the helmet starts to whistle..IPOD plugged in..covering vert quicker than Homer Simpson eats bacon..

15% bumps...powder bumps are nice..as are spring bumps...but my favorite bumps are chalky bumps..grippy as all hell..turn turn turn turn turn..a nice rhythm..definitely underneath a chairlift with lift towers and other hazards to add to the steeziness..ain't nothing gonna break my stride..ain't nothing gonna slow me down..oh no..I've got to keep on moving..lactic acid burn..and maybe a few little tricks thrown in :daffy::spread:

5% perfectly manicured booters with steep landings..lined up in a row..mad steezy air...smooth landing..a few turns...mad steezy air..smooth landing..a few turns...wow..

Then a nice meal...some beer..cough cough..a BJ..and then I'd post about the day online...wow..a man can dream..O.K. back to work.

I'm not picky, nor am I a powder snob. Some nice natural on bumpy ungroomed terrain like Castlerock or MRG under sunny skies and little wind would easily do it for me.

as long as there is no wind, i wont complain, but 10 " of powder of a nice firm base, some good bump lines and good trees, that will do it for me

Waist-deep fluffy powder, with a good base underneath, clear blue skies, and no crowds....don't care where, just somewhere steep and with a good variety.

That looks like somewhere on Mount Mansfield...the best place to ski in the east

That's definitely Mansfield. If there was any doubt, you could always look at the filename...

My perfect day is about 2 feet of pow at the Bush, MRG, or Smuggs and spending all day in the trees with a couple of actual runs interspersed. I would prefer that the storm is still going on so the lines get refreshed constantly. Oh yeah, and it would be midweek.

Tahoe

Tahoe is a special place. I've skied/boarded Heavenly, Alpine Meadows, Squaw, and Kirkwood. The shot below is at Kirkwood. I know I dropped into "The Wall" on my old freestyle board but I can't recall if that was when I took this shot.

I like a variety of conditions but carving my alpine board on groomed cruisers puts the biggest smile on my face.
