I pulled the driveway snow stakes out at both places. Maybe you can all thank me later. I should put away the snowblower and summerize my snowmobiles just to be safe....

I'll take a chance on Belleayre tomorrow. Probably a tiny window between the thaw in mid-morning and turning into slush after midday.

But since I have more days left on my MAX pass than I have time to use them, it's just an hour out of my way to give it a try.

I guess I'll stay local and go to Crotched tomorow. Only have a weekday pass, but it is valid for closing weekend. May be able to squeeze in a couple hours on Easter as well. Almost all the snow in my back yard melted over the past 2 days. Went quick.

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
I skied Killington today. Solid B level day. I skied 10am-4pm. The peak was covered in fog all day so I just stuck to Bear and Needle's. It never rained while I was skiing. It drizzled a little. My gloves never got wet. My snowpants never got wet. I took off my outershell at lunch.

The more traffic the better the snow skiied. Outer Limits was skiing superb. Tight, classic OL moguls skiers right, super-wide, super-fast "moguls" (it skied like a banked salmon course) skiers left, and a flat strip down the center that had hero snow till the masses scraped that down.

Needle's Eye and Cruise Control also very good, hero snow/cream cheese. Superstar was miserable. Trails like Vertigo and Ovation were closed but they're not melted out at all.

I actually went into Stash trees and there's still PLENTY of snow in there. Trees will come back into play (higher elevation, not south facing) if it can get warm enough tomorrow. Some naturals holding on like Needle's Eye.

With the soft snow and my twin-tip skis I dabbled in the Superpipe a little bit...surprisingly fun...I figured out you have to "jump" while you're riding the wall and spin you your skis in the air to get rotation. Now I'm X-games ready...

A few bare spots on snowmaking trails but nothing a good groomer can't cover up. The exception being lower Wildfire- the spring is definitely flowing under that trail and after this weekend it'll be close to done.

I'm going to see what the temperature is tomorrow to determine whether I go to Killington or Okemo. Grooming reports will also have a lot of say in where I go. I feel a lot of people think tomorrow will be poor-average grade....I think it's gonna be great. 40 degrees + late March sunshine = Beautiful spring bumps.

This weekends crappy conditions makes it easier to enjoy Easter Sunday with church and family at least.

I'm not sure my extended family would recognize me if I showed up for Easter Sunday! My kids were raised finding their Easter baskets in various hotel rooms...lol! (rates were always cheaper by that point so we'd splurge and stay on mountain)

Belleayre is skiing well today.

With the high temperature, trails can go fron icy to slushy within an hour. Even one side of the trail can skiing differently than the other side of trails, depending on how long that side of the trail emerged from the tree shadow!

The sun is out. The air is warm. The snow is (now) all soft. The trails are empty (and still mostly open and well covered)...

Spring skiing at its best!!!

Mix of conditions today at Stratton; boiler chalk on pitches, soft in the sun, some fast spots. Gorgeous weather; not a cloud in the sky.

Crotched was the most crowded I've ever seen it by a factor of about 7. Only open parking spots were about 200 feet back of the West Lift! Good for them, though it looked to be a lot of passholders.

Lift was still pretty much ski on (I was there from noon to 4). Conditions were pretty awesome slushy-ness with the groomed trails holding up decently and the trails left with bumps were awesome (though oddly spaced at a few points). So thrilled management left Jupiter's and UFO to bump up these past few weeks.

Running out of snow in a few places, but they could go another weekend if they wanted (maybe more given the weather).

Mix at killington....spring corn at Bear/needles and mid to lower parts of the mountain. Peak was pretty icy. Beautiful bluebird day! Some natural trails opened up and plenty of snow on them as well as the trees once it warms.

It skied great! Loved the nice soft bumps once they softened. Nothing like ripping a zipper and getting slush shots in your face from the troughs! What spring skiing is all about.

Jay Peak was decent yesterday for this time of year. Groomers were extremely firm, and the upper mountain glades never "released" from the temps, but the lower mountain glades like Bonaventure, Showoff, etc... were soft and fun.

River was great, bit firm to start Saturday but most softened up nicely on East side. West stayed firm. Didn't get frozen Saturday night so Easter Sunday was super nice. Bit of snow/mixed in the morning to bluebird afternoon. Hope everyone had fun and no one skipped, turned out really nice!
