I'm looking for one night accomodations, mid week, at or near Smugglers Notch. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've only stayed in their village, which is very nice but pricey. If you're looking to go on the cheap, try the Red Fox. Dorm type place, but when there not loaded up with bus groups it's a very cheap clean place. Bare bones, but if you're there for the skiing and not accomadations it's worth looking into.

I can help you with the skiing aspect, but I've never actually stayed around there so I have no idea about lodging.

For piste trails, Smuggs has a few of the best in the East if they are actually open. Robin's Run, Liftline and Freefall on Madonna are a few of the steepest and most fun trails I've been on. Unfortunately they aren't open that much unless there is a whole lot of snow (which there will be if we're lucky with this storm). Liftline and Robin's have a few little cliffbands and are pretty technical. Freefall is pretty much like the name implies - really steep.
As for some other runs, Doc Dempsey's is a pretty fun trail off of Madonna. Sterling doesn't have any particularly great trails that stand out but there are some decent runs. When are you going up? If I'm around I could show you some of the good backcountry if you're interested.

Dunno. Depends on the weather, but we might be there on Thursday. We usually ski Okemo, but we're making a "skiin' safari" this week: Sugarbush, Jay, Smuggs, Killington, Pico.

The first 3 are great mountains. I'll be at Smuggs Friday and Sunday, Jay on Sat. PM me if you'll be around any of those days and you want a tour.
