Okay, you've got me. Where the heck is Otis Ridge, and who is/was Otis

Otis Ridge is a small ski area in Otis, Mass. I haven't been there since I was a kid, but I guess it still exists.

I've actually skiied there as a kid once. It's located in Otis, Mass. at an old Berkshire summer resort type place. Don't know if it still exists. It was pretty podunk even as a 13 year old in 1969/70.

Thanks for the info. I've always found little places like that interesting. We used to have 2 places like that around here, but both now are long gone. (Snowcrest and Anderland)

First time skiing was about 10-11 yrs ago at a tiny place 20 minutes from my house called Belle Mountain in NJ which closed 1 or 2 years after I was there. Less than 200 ft vertical. All the rental skis, boots and bindings were painted grey! :-o very top quality equipment. :lol:

7 years ago started snowboarding at Blue Mountain PA. Did both ski and snowboard for a while, but all I've been doing for the last 3 years is snowboarding. I'm anticipating taking the skis out this season though. We'll see...

It was Bromley, sometime between 1978 and 1980, not sure exactly what year. I was between 8-10 years old and my parents decided to take the family on a weeklong ski trip even though nobody had ever skiied in our family. I'm glad they took us on that trip. I didn't ski from 1986 until March of 2006 but all it took were those 3 days at Bromley in March '06 to get hooked again.

When I was 7 or 8 my parents took me skiing a couple of times. I'm not sure which place was actually my first place skiing, but the two places we went were Pine Ridge in Barre, MA, and Snow Hill in Phillipston, MA. I'm not sure which place was first, but I do remember that at least the first couple times out I was skiing on these silly cheap plastic strap-on skis that my parents had bought somewhere so they wouldn't have to rent real skis. It literally looked like I had two little tiny sleds on my feet.

My initial skiing career ended later that season when I was "skiing" in the back yard and twisted my knee up pretty bad.

After that, I didn't do it again for close to a decade. When I was 15, my cousin Ryan convinced me to ski. We skied at Wachusett a couple times that year and then at Mt. Southington, CT a couple times. I skied for two more seasons, all of it at WaWa, until I couldn't handle the discomfort of the boots anymore and quit.

Last year, my wife bought me ski gear and convinced me to ski again. I fell in love, and I'm really enjoying it. First time skiing this time around, last year, was Crotched (which is now my favorite mountain).

Oh... skied Wachusett today. Good times.
