Royal Mountain, NY in Dec 1963 on wooded skiis, lace up boots and Cubco bindings. A very primitve release binding.
They had a T-bar and a rope tow. Tickets were $4/$2 for the adults/kids and $1 for the rope tow. The season started around X-mas and went into April due to the great NE exposure and narrow trails. I hear they are still going strong.

Front yard and Toggenberg, NY, Winter 1977. Wooden skis with screw-in metal edges, leather boots, "safety" straps, Cubcos and one-piece snowmobile suit. I wish I kept that set-up, minus the suit. Even then, I knew that fartbags weren't ever going to be cool.
