Which is more important to the enjoyment of your ski day. The people you're skiing with or the mountain you’re skiing?

For example, if you where in with the C.L.I.T.S. would it be more fun for you to rip bumps all day at Sundown with your boyz or tear it up at Sugarbush alone?

When in trees groups of three. I don't mind if it's a couple of dudes I meet on the lift or some stoners lookin to get away from the crowds. Fresh snow is where its at.(IMHO)

I've never been to Sundown, but I'd probably say Sugarbush alone (with good conditions) beats Sundown. I would give up some terrain goodness in order to ski with people I like to ski with. If it's a not-especially-good day conditions- or terrain-wise, I really want to be with other people. Also, if I'm going to be skiing a few days in a row, being with others becomes more important.

HPD coming through with another great thread!

I haven't skied a totally solo day in a few seasons. It sounds corny, but I have to thank all the AZ buds I've become friends with offline for that.

Seems like your example is pointed pretty specifically at me. Skiing Sundown solo would get old pretty quick. I would still do it, but it would not be anywhere near as fun as it is skiing with the CLITS. I probably get 15-20 days up north. Doing those solo would still be fun too, but skiing with some AZ buds makes it more funner. Luckily, it's not a decision I usually need to worry about. I can almost always find somebody from the boards to ski with, and those I choose to ski with usually have similar preferences in terms of terrain. I'll still go solo if need be though.

It really was not. From all the posts and vids all AZers know that you guys have a great time together at Sundown and that you all love Sugarbush. I thought it was a perfect example for what I was trying to get at.

Ain't no thing. CLITS and an abundance of ungroomed terrain like you find at Sugarbush is just a good match. We might not all look that good at it, but it seems to be the common preference.

One day we'll get powhunter to Sugarbush and both him and 2knees to MRG....

I prefer to ski with my friends, but I wouldn't give up a solo day at a bigger mountain to ski Sundown with them, probably..

I would rather ski with others than ski solo, even if the terrain were tamer skiing with friends. Then again, I'm only an intermediate skier so better terrain isn't as much of a draw for me as it would be for others here, especially not to ski it alone. I need that camaraderie on the tougher stuff at this stage.

Got a go with both, just like Greg did in a sense

I have a great time skiing with Dana and I had a total blast skiing with 2knees, powhunter and, austin and Terry. I do still love my solo days though. There's something very theraputic about just being alone out in the mountains; especially on a deserted trail with great snow.

It's a great hypothetical question, but one that I don't think would ever present itself in my reality, IF I had a group of regular ski pals like the CLITS, 5 or 6 say. Pretty much 99% certain one of them would be able and willing to hit Sugarbush on a day it was going off if that was my situation.

Who I'm skiing with is more important to me than where I'm skiing. But where I ski is also important so I will try to influence the decision of where to ski with the people I'm skiing with once we've decided we're going to make an outing of it. While I prefer to ski with other people, I don't mind skiing solo all day if the terrain is good.

I like skiing at Sundown with the CLITS, although I haven't done that much of it lately. I'm not as much of a bump fanatic as most of the CLITS are so while I really like the company I get when I ski there, I get bored skiing the same bump run over & over all night. I like terrain variety for my skiing.

My final answer is Yes, I want both good company & a good mountain to ski at the same time.

I like to ski alone, although with good company is fine too....but where I am is far more important.
