IF I had a group of regular ski pals like the CLITS, 5 or 6 say. Pretty much 99% certain one of them would be able and willing to hit Sugarbush on a day it was going off if that was my situation.

Pat and Steve say you're a great guy. You're a CLIT by proxy.

I like skiing at Sundown with the CLITS, although I haven't done that much of it lately. I'm not as much of a bump fanatic as most of the CLITS are so while I really like the company I get when I ski there, I get bored skiing the same bump run over & over all night. I like terrain variety for my skiing.

You're banned from the CLITS.

I like to ski by myself sometime, but not for long. The people I ski with are more important to me then where I ski. That said I need to like where I’m skiing too.

question is probably a mute point with your situation up at Whiteface, which I think is fantastic.

I was told that I never qualified as a CLIT anyway so no big loss  I just like hanging out & skiing with the CLITS. Good group of guys. That doesn't mean I have to be a full-fledged member & ski bumps all the time.

I'm gonna have to go with where. With the exception of really good conditions at Sundown and a big group, I'll hit up Killington every weekend over Sundown. But then again, the group sessions at Sundown happen during the week quite a bit, so I really don't have to make the choice.

When it comes down to it, I pretty much skied solo the last two years. I enjoy skiing with friends, but it's not that big of an adjustment to me to go back to my old lifestyle.

I would say skiing with friends. I don't have to be skiing radical terrain to have fun. As long as it isn't boilerplate, I can have fun skiing anywhere. Being with friends who also ski just makes it that much more enjoyable.

Which is more important to the enjoyment of your ski day. The people you're skiing with or the mountain you’re skiing?

For example, if you where in with the C.L.I.T.S. would it be more fun for you to rip bumps all day at Sundown with your boyz or tear it up at Sugarbush alone?

Awesome question!!!! In my younger years it was all about the terrain PERIOD. Now I could reall give a rats rear end, really. I enjoy my time outside, skiing w/ family and friends---as long as I do I don't care where or w/ who.

If she's attractive and willing, I can ski anywhere. ;)

I mix it up. When the conditions are lousy, I social ski. When the conditions are good, I pick terrain that interests me. If others want to ski the same stuff, so be it. If not, I split off and do my own thing. The only time I care about combining both is when I'm doing off-the-map trees. I happily lap on-the-map trees solo all day. I don't ski off-the-map solo.

I have a season pass and no job so my only option most days is picking between the 2 mile drive to Killington and the 7 mile drive to Pico. I also have my small stack of vouchers I collected at other mountains for midweek powder days.

I would rather ski with others than ski alone. But I would rather ski the terrain I want to ski solo than ski groomers with others or ski an uninteresting mountain with others or any condition other than powder when there is powder to be had.

Unfortunately, this preference has gotten in the way of my having skied with many other AZers in the past and will no doubt happen again in the future. It is not for lacking of wanting to pair up with other folks. My best days are when the conditions are good AND I have a buddy or three to ski with (Magic last weekend with roark was my best day so far this season for example trumping Mansfield with awf170 in the early season. But my ideal ski partner is someone that can be flexible with place and date and make first chair and ski anything on the mountain. Really hard combo to attain on any given day so I just keep trying to make the stars align whenever possible.

And there are many times when I want to be solo. But since I already ski solo so often, that is very much the exception.

For me its skiing with my family or my friends over skiing alone, altho i ski alone 10 or so days a yrs.

-- I love skiing even if it has to be alone sometimes but frankly that's not even close to the fun/joy of skiing with folks you really enjoy !

While skiing alone is great contemplative therapy, there is no one there to BREAK YOUR CHOPS :D

Right where I want to be
Sometimes skiing with others is more a pain in the @55 then skiing alone. The more people the better chance it is to be a pain. I am impatient and can not stand waiting for others to put their boots on or having to go in every other run because someone is cold or has to take a leak. Even waiting for people to catch up, having to stop at every trail junction is just a pain. Although at the end of the day in the bar the more the merrier. Skiing is an individual sport and others are not needed unless in the backcountry.

i hear that -- fortunately all the people i ski with regularly are top to bottom no stop skiers who are gung ho and can RIP .these guys are all former college level skiers or hockey pucks and take no prisoners :D , my kids are all very athletic as are the grandchildren so no slackers at all

My wife when she skis likes to take it a little more relaxed now.She had a pretty bad compound fracture requiring immediate surgery two years ago while at Attitash, so has reeled back her zest for the sport
