OK, I'll take the bait......;)

I'll take B any day. Skiing thru trees is a pointless exercise for anyone A) over the age of 15, or B) who doesn't have Daddy to pay for new equipment every year. Trees are not meant to be skied thru - they are meant to be skied around.

But seriously - anyone who likes to ski thru trees - you are welcome to it. Fewer people on my groomed trails. There's been a thread the past few days about average speed when skiing - I go skiing to go fast, and obviously, you can't ski at 45 mph thru trees, so it's just not my thing. If you want to bust up your skis or get off on bashing thru the woods, have at it. Just remember to be nice to others who prefer to ski on open terrain. See you at the bottom.......;)

I'm just messing around... even though I really enjoy trees and would generally choose a nice, steep powdery tree line over a groomed run, I still spend a fair amount of time on the groomers trying to get my speed fix. Last time I checked FIS racers were not gapers :)

I'll take B as well. I'm fairly new to tree skiing and am enjoying it, but give me trees with tons of fresh powder, not brush and branches and roots coming through the snow. Some of my best tree experiences have been in Utah, where the powder was waist deep and as you ski down you can see mini "avalanches" and in Killington in a spot where I took off my skis during a "rest" stop and sank so deep the only thing that stopped me from sinking deeper was my crotch :) If A was on of these shots I would gladly choose it.

Definately A, I find trails like B to be boring after one run and usually crowded. My favorite run tho is a slope with some trees and at least 6" of powder. Your choice of photos is interesting....the tree run I assume is somewhere in NE and the groomed sloped looks like it is from the powdery west, Lake Tahoe area.

I'd pick B if it had a bit more pitch than it looks like in the picture and if it wasn't crowded.

Nothing like the feel of fresh corduroy in the morning.

If you ask me again in a few years, I may pick A...

Same here. I want to be able to sample some tree runs in the future. This season will be mostly groomers. If all goes well maybe some bumps and glades at the end of the season.

Every sentence that starts with no offense will almost always offend someone, then the author has to qualify his statement later to try to make amends. I'm not getting on koreshot, but I find that to be true.

No offense honey, but you look fat in that dress.
No offense, but that was a stupid answer.
No offense Greg, but you didn't look good skiing those bumps.

....If the whole of trail A) were of that beginning-to-end tightness, mediocre pitch, and sketchiness like that in the image...I'd go with B).
...Took a bump class @Whistler last season and then got out into Western trees & steeps..... Once done, is one spoiled or not?!...$&*^*^@? ..although part of the fun in the NE comes from the exploration aspect of it....simply making it all the way.

*EDIT: The brain was fixed on alpine....the tight trees are where the touring setup rules!!! I LOVE just getting out and striding my way around...

I choose pix A cause the cover is thin, real tight line, dark and not particularly fun looking, but I was pretty sure most would go for it. I would too, but I would like to hit B a time or 2 early in the morning. Lay down big wide arched GS turns. I like to put my hand down sometimes the way snowboarders do as they lean into the hill as they lay out. It's my fist since I'm holding poles. 2 runs would be enough then I's be bored with it.

I think we must have some very skilled hardcore skiers in here. I hope to get a chance to ski with many of you this season.
