Thought so!

That be Solitude, skied in those trees where the snow was waist deep, Utah pow.

I thought I knew that scene, but was afraid to say it. Floating down through the powder on the steeps is absolutely intoxicating. When you encounter those conditions for the first time it is difficult to believe that it is skiable. But then, after you step off, you realize how much control is possible despite the pitch. On my first trip out there I couldn't believe where I was seeing tracks. Now, I look forward to helping make them everytime conditions permit. Somebody buy my house! I want to move so badly.

I'm never up early enough for B... Unless it's a powder day... Then I'd probably anywhere that's NOT groomed...

"A" looks like fun...

You have a good eye Bog. I actually hate that pix because it looks exactly as you discribe, I'm not sure why I saved it. It's really a much better glad the that.
Pretty difficult to forget those type of conditions highpeaks, ....looks like the high point of last Winter in Bangor's City Forest  ..But I do like to slip & slide thru new areas of woods....even with the alpine boots/skis.
What I was really looking forward to picking up last season was a touring setup(Karhu boots...etc).....but the snowmaking resorts were the only things happenning in Maine....except for Saddleback, where riverc0il seemed to have timed his visit(s) pretty well.

OK, I'll take the bait......;)

I'll take B any day. Skiing thru trees is a pointless exercise for anyone A) over the age of 15, or B) who doesn't have Daddy to pay for new equipment every year. Trees are not meant to be skied thru - they are meant to be skied around.

But seriously - anyone who likes to ski thru trees - you are welcome to it. Fewer people on my groomed trails. There's been a thread the past few days about average speed when skiing - I go skiing to go fast, and obviously, you can't ski at 45 mph thru trees, so it's just not my thing. If you want to bust up your skis or get off on bashing thru the woods, have at it. Just remember to be nice to others who prefer to ski on open terrain. See you at the bottom.......;)

+1 Agreed from a "groomer boomer" who wants to still be skiing at 75, like my folks

I think that happens often around here.

"Which one of these two would you pick?"

"I chose this third one that has nothing to do with anything. And let me tell you why."

Something like that anyhow.

I agree, kids these days! ;)

I'd take option F of question 3 in subset II pertaining to section IV anyday!

Seriously, this one looks pretty sweet.

You're right. I was having trouble placing it in-bounds. Now I know why. The only in-bounds trail it resembled was snowfields/Upper Cloud but the background wasn't fitting with that. It all makes sense now.
