I took off my skis during a "rest" stop and sank so deep the only thing that stopped me from sinking deeper was my crotch

I did that once on a run on the back side of Jay and sank up to my armpits! The only thing keeping me "afloat" was a ski in each hand. :-o

The only thing about that tree run that I don't like is the probability of core shots. Otherwise, I'm like Marc...before this past season no-way...now now, yeah...can't wait for some snow in the woods!

A doesn't look so mediocre to me, pitch-wise.

I'm prolly gonna be wearing my rockers a lot more this season so as to not have to worry about ducking into an "A" type trail whenever I feel like it...

The only time I will really ski the trees, is after a fresh dump. I dont like skiing tracked up glades, as it is very hard to keep the speed down. Those woods dont look like they have great cover either. I do beat the crap out of my skis:-o , but try to ski where there is cover.

I skiid a few years ago up at Sugarbush. Dumped every night so the glades had plenty. Could hit the drops, and they were soft landings, and the snow was deep enough to keep you from speeding out of control.

I'll vote for "C". (This is a shot of Shadows at Steamboat)

I prefer my glade skiing to be without sparks.

Be careful....................

The boat is flat. Western tree skiing: go to C-A-N-A-D-A. Much better. Went to the boat a long time ago, great town (the springs that is) but the hill is not worth a whole lot of time. You'd be better off at a combo trip of Red/Whitewater/Fernie or Telluride (warm up), Red Mountain pass for touring (take a guide like Clint Cook of San Juan Mt Guides) and then a couple days at Silverton.

I'm a freakin dork... I"M A FREAKIN DORK!!!!!

I was in Steamboat and I skied closets and shadows, and I was cursing the pow. Cursing the freakin pow - didja hear that????

At the time I had no idea how to ski pow correctly. I blew my opportunity to enjoy some of the best pow skiing in the universe...

Ty was able to take advantage of it,...

Bring it on, now, however...

Sweet, I've never been to Steamboat, but would like to go just cause of what they say about their glades.

Look at my January 22 entry from my 1999 ski blog. Steamboat was in one of those every day is a powder day cycles. 18" over 10" from the day before. Shadows was bottomless champagne powder. One of the best ski days of my life.

I've heard the boat wasn't challenging, but I’ve heard the unique combination of powder and trees make it worthwhile. Vail isn’t challenging either and they have that whole rich glitz thing I hate, but their enormous expanse of bowl skiing make it kinda unique and worthwhile too.

I’m sure the trip you have outlined would be great if time and money where not a concern, but for me it is. I also promised my 12 year old that if I go West this Feb. he’s coming too.

I’ve read mixed reviews about Silverton and I’d be interested to read your take on it. I’m not sure how I would do with all the hiking required at that altitude.

I like both for what they are...

A for being what looks like a decent eastern tree run - maybe on the order of Somewhere/Nowhere at Killington...

B for being something I could really lay down rails with the new RC4 SL's...

Hard decision...

The last 2 seasons I've done a week in Summit County and each time I tried to get one of my friends to make the drive north and do a day at Steamboat. The response was always why drive when there's so much right here? I should have just gone by myself.

A) is part of the 10th Mt. Div. glade at Whiteface.

B) is a Lake Tahoe resort (not sure which one). I was looking for a picture of a fresh cudorary blue.
